Over 700 Indian students have been asked to return to India in a first-of-its-kind fake admission case. Media reports indicate that fake letters of acceptance have been issued to students for studying in Canada. When these students applied for permanent residence after completing their studies, the CBSA began an investigation into the whole matter.
Do not work with consultants who engage in unethical practices that can jeopardize your career.

Studying in Canada: 5 Things to Know
It is common for students to arrive in Canada before they are aware of this, and they end up in trouble. Therefore, I urge you to avoid doing anything that might adversely affect your status.
1. Go to a school (Designated Learning Institution) and complete a program that qualifies for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Make sure the school is eligible for a PGWP. If you are unsure whether your program is also eligible for PGWP, please contact the school. This is of utmost importance.
2. How soon can you start working?
Make sure you have sufficient funds to begin your education as an international student. You should not come empty-handed, as you will need as much soft landing as possible in order to begin your journey. Having money enables you to accomplish this goal.
3. Student work hours?
A student is only permitted to work 20 hours per week OUTSIDE of school. Whenever school is in session and you are enrolled in classes, you are considered to be in session. During scheduled breaks, you can work full time if you wish.
4. Change of school/program after arrival
Yes, you may change your school or program or defer the start date of your program once you have arrived in Canada.
It is important to note that you cannot defer your schooling because you wish to work first and start school later. Once your program has begun, you are permitted to work.
5. Renew, extend, or change your status
This is an extremely important matter. Students may need to renew their passports and visas, extend their study permits, or change their status in Canada. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind the expiration date of your visa/permit at all times.
According to law, you are required to remain in a valid status at all times and we recommend that you apply for an extension of your visa or permit at least 30 days before it expires.
