Here's a great idea for the kiddos while they are at home doing school. Make a "word wall" using either words they use a lot, commonly misspelled words, tricky words etc.

I use something like this when I'm teaching sight words, add new ones and then you can say "show me "the", show me "and", then as they learn the words ask "what's this word"?

Very true, I think reading with a child is so important. What are your favourite books? We loved Clifford, Franklin, Curious George, Barbie. We probably read at least 2 or more every day.

What are your plans for the spring break? I think everyone is looking forward to a week of to relax. I plan on taking some time to putter around the house and go for some walks.

Great activity to reinforce letter sound and recognition. As the child what sound the letter makes, talk about words that start with that sound. Trace the letter. Here, we used cornmeal in a dish, but you could use shaving cream, finger paint or even pudding.
