🦅 Our Grade 1 students had an unforgettable day exploring the wonders of wildlife at the Alberta Birds of Prey Centre in Coaldale! Students had the opportunity to observe eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls up close while learning about their unique characteristics, habitats, and the important role they play in Alberta’s ecosystems.

The centre focuses on wildlife conservation, rehabilitation, and environmental education, helping visitors connect with nature and understand how living things depend on their environments.

This exciting field trip connected directly to the Alberta Grade 1 Science curriculum as students explored the needs of living things, learned how animals adapt to their environments, and discovered ways people can care for and protect wildlife. Through hands-on experiences and engaging presentations, students deepened their understanding of the natural world and the importance of stewardship for Alberta’s plants and animals.

A big thank you to the staff at the Alberta Birds of Prey Centre for providing such an educational and memorable experience for our students! 🦅🦉✨

🦬 Grade 3 Field Trip to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump🦬

Our Grade 3 students had an incredible opportunity to visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and deepen their understanding of Alberta's rich history and Indigenous cultures.

Through hands-on learning, guided tours, and engaging exhibits, students explored how the Plains First Nations lived on and cared for the land long before Alberta became a province. They learned about the significance of the buffalo, traditional hunting practices, and the important role buffalo jumps played in sustaining communities for generations.

This experience brought the Alberta Grade 3 Social Studies curriculum to life by helping students develop an appreciation for the diverse cultural traditions, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples in Alberta. Students were able to make meaningful connections between classroom learning and the stories, perspectives, and ways of life that have shaped our province.

We are grateful for opportunities that inspire curiosity, respect, and a deeper understanding of Alberta's past and present.

🍩 National Doughnut Day is Friday, June 5! 🍩

Grade 2 recently enjoyed reading the delightful story, “Arnie the Doughnut”. The story follows Arnie, a doughnut who is purchased but doesn't realize that doughnuts are meant to be eaten! He tries to warn his friends, who already know their fate and are quite proud of it. Arnie then works hard to convince Mr. Bing, the purchaser, not to eat him. Together they come up with many creative (and sometimes silly!) solutions. You'll have to read the book to discover how the story ends!

Inspired by the story, our Grade 2 students designed and created their own unique doughnuts. Their artwork is currently on display at the Rolling Pin in Bow Island. We encourage everyone to stop by, admire the students' creativity, and perhaps enjoy a doughnut while you're there!

To wrap up this sweet learning experience, our Grade 2 students will be taking a tour of our local bakery. 🍩✨

What a FABULOUS day for our Grade 2 field trip to Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park! ☀️🏞️

From the perfect weather to our enthusiastic students and incredible parent volunteers, the day was packed with learning, exploring, and smiling faces! Students learned so much about the hoodoos, the history of the area, and the important connections to First Nations culture and history.

Our lunch spot came with breathtaking scenery, and the hoodoo explorations were full of eager Grade 2 adventurers led by their amazing parent helpers. By the end of the day, everyone had red faces, sweaty shirts, and huge smiles! 😄

To top it all off, Mr. Robey surprised everyone with cooling Mr. Freezies — the perfect ending to an unforgettable trip!

A huge THANK YOU to our outstanding parent volunteers: Mr. Robey, Mrs. Todd, Mrs. Rapson, Mrs. Thacker, Mrs. Reimer, and Mrs. Elford. We are so grateful for your support and enthusiasm throughout the day! 💛
