Lola Canola aka Patty Milligan spent twelve years producing and selling honey at farmers' markets in the Edmonton area. Currently she looks after hives at Northlands Urban Farm and the Shaw Conference Centre. In the past, she has hosted on-farm school tours with Sprout Farms U-Pick Apple Orchard and Wild Green Garden Consultants. She talks with many young people through Bon Accord Community School, Lilian Schick School, the Battle River Watershed Alliance, and Northlands Urban Farm. She is also a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor especially for beginner beekeepers. in Calgary and Northern Lakes College in Slave Lake. Currently she teaches through the University of Alberta’s Devonian Botanic Gardens and Yellowhead County. An engaging speaker for any age group, Patty has presented about bees, beekeeping, honey, tasting honey, gardening for bees, and supporting wild bees to groups like St. Albert Garden Club, Strathcona County Garden Club, Edmonton’s Seedy Sunday, Edmonton West Rotary, the Organic Master Gardener course, and Alberta Agriculture, to name a few. Her major goal is to spread knowledge and magic of bees to people of all ages.
