AUDITION NOTICE: Applications are now open for our newly expanded pre-professional company! Contemporary Dance KL is a year-long program designed to complement existing studio education offering a professional contemporary dance company-inspired experience.

Company dancers participate in a partially subsidized weekly contemporary technique class and choreography rehearsals, gaining insight into how professional contemporary works are developed from concept to stage.

Dancers will perform in Caroline’s Creative Initiatives’ production on May 29, 2027, at Market Hall Performing Arts Centre in Peterborough, featuring new works by Artistic Director Caroline Bentley and acclaimed Canadian contemporary artist Willem Sadler.

Thanks to the support of local sponsors, choreography training is offered FREE of charge, helping make high-quality contemporary dance experiences more accessible to young artists in Kawartha Lakes and surrounding communities.

✨ INTRODUCING CONTEMPORARY DANCE KL ✨

More than a training program, Contemporary Dance KL is a company that believes pre-professional dance education should be both accessible and inspiring—nurturing technical excellence while empowering dancers to develop their own artistic voice.

Created for dedicated dancers who want to deepen their training while exploring their creativity, this year-long program is designed to complement existing studio education through a professional company-inspired experience.

Company dancers participate in a partially subsidized weekly contemporary technique class and choreography rehearsals, gaining insight into how professional contemporary works are developed from concept to stage. Through this process, dancers are encouraged to think critically, take creative risks, collaborate with others, and discover their unique artistic voice.

The choreography learned throughout the season will be presented as part of Caroline's Creative Initiatives' professional contemporary dance production in May 2027 in Peterborough, alongside professional contemporary dancers from across Canada. This season, dancers will perform a new creation by Artistic Director Caroline Bentley, as well as a commissioned work by acclaimed Canadian contemporary dance artist Willem Sadler.

Thanks to the support of local sponsors, choreography training is offered FREE of charge, helping make high-quality contemporary dance experiences more accessible to young artists in Kawartha Lakes and surrounding communities.

Whether your goal is a future in dance or simply a desire to grow as an artist, Contemporary Dance KL provides a space where creativity, discipline, mentorship, and community come together.
