🐾❤️ A message from Luna & C**a…❤️🐾

Hi everyone! It’s Luna and C**a here! 🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺

We may be Karelian Bear Dogs and we may have very important jobs to do, but that doesn’t mean we don’t LOVE having a day off! 😍

One of our favourite things is getting to spend time with Alisha at Altitude Canine Adventures She understands that working dogs like us need more than just a little exercise. We need to move our bodies, use our brains, explore, learn and have fun!

Alisha takes such good care of us. She listens to what our humans tell her about how we need to be handled and makes sure we are safe, secure and properly managed while still allowing us to be dogs and do the things we love.

And WOW… does she know how to keep us busy! 🐾

We get to run, explore, sniff, think, problem-solve and enjoy new adventures. She keeps both our bodies and our minds working, which makes us very happy Karelian Bear Dogs!

When we come home, we aren't just tired — we're content. We feel like we've had a real adventure, accomplished something and had the best day doing what we love. ❤️

Our humans say we are pretty special working dogs… but we think we're just two lucky pups who get to have the best of both worlds:

We work hard.
We play hard.
And we love even harder.🐾❤️

Thank you, Alisha Cottle for understanding us, caring for us and giving us such amazing days off. We couldn't ask for a better place to spend our adventure days!

Another successful weekend is in the books!

Canadian Bear Safety Authority was proud to be part of the **Rockies 24 Race** in beautiful Kananaskis. Our team thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many incredible racers, vendors, volunteers, and Conservation Officers throughout the event.

We're pleased to report that there were no negative bear incidents, making for a safe and enjoyable weekend for everyone involved.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated patrol team for their professionalism and commitment, to the event organizers for hosting such a fantastic event, and especially to our amazing Karelian Bear Dogs, Alta** and Luna, whose training and dedication continue to make them invaluable members of our team.

If you spend time hiking, trail running, hunting, camping, working, or recreating in bear country, we also offer Tactical Bear Safety Courses designed for outdoor enthusiasts of all experience levels. Learn practical skills, increase your confidence, and be better prepared for encounters with wildlife. Reach out to us to learn more about upcoming courses and training opportunities.

When it comes to public events in bear country, safety is always our highest priority.

Our patrol teams are supported by **Alta, Luna, and C**a**—three highly trained and exceptionally intelligent Karelian Bear Dogs . Their natural instincts, advanced training, and ability to detect bear activity make them an invaluable part of keeping both people and wildlife safe.

Every member of our patrol team is fully equipped with bear spray carried in Grizzly Dude custom holsters, ensuring quick, reliable access should an emergency response ever be required.

Our approach is built on prevention, awareness, and professionalism. By combining experienced staff, specialized Karelian Bear Dogs, and the right safety equipment, we help create a safer environment for event attendees while promoting respectful coexistence with wildlife.

Easy to see why they are passing through and which direction they are headed on these trails! Always the most important thing is to watch for food sources and sign of bear activity, many times what they leave behind tells you everywhere they have been!

Heading into another weekend in Kananaskis for the Rockies 24 race!
Alta and Luna will be on site the entire weekend monitoring the bear activity and keeping the boundaries safe for the racers and bears alike! Beautiful country, great people and the excitement in Luna and Alta is real as they are finding alot of sign already!
More weekend updates to come as these two impressive K9s are on Patrol to keep people safe and the bears in their own back yard, respected and given the boundaries they deserve!

Spent the weekend in Canmore patrolling for bears along the trails of the 24hr Relentless Race.
Had a few interactions with good bears who moved off as soon as they realized they were too close and the dogs have done an incredible job keeping the athletes safe and the bears in good boundaries.
Proud of my team this weekend, not a wink of sleep but still out there checking on the reported activity making sure people feel safe.
Alta and Luna have been an impressive team, these girls make us proud!
