National Dog Day was recognized on August 26. In reality, we would be wise to recognize the significant role that dogs play in our daily lives. They are resilient, compassionate, perceptive and affectionate. They make us laugh when we didn’t know how much we needed to laugh in that moment. They know when we were having a bad day, and act in a way to make it better.

That’s why it’s so difficult to say goodbye, regardless of whether or not we know it’s the right time. The following sums up what dogs can mean to us, if we let them.

Every day is Celebrate Your Dog Day.

Still riding the National Dog Day high, and this week, life gave me the perfect way to celebrate it. 🐾🎉

Back on the CP24 desk again, talking about the thing I love most: helping dogs and their people actually understand each other. National Dog Day is a reminder of everything our dogs give us without asking for much back — patience, loyalty, a wagging tail at the door no matter how the day went. The least we can do is meet them halfway and learn to speak their language.

Thank you, CP24, for having me back to share that message. And thank you to every dog who's ever tested my patience and taught me something in the process. That's what this work is really about.

Happy belated National Dog Day to all the good dogs (and the humans lucky enough to love them). 🐶❤️

National Dog Day isn’t just about posting a cute photo or buying another toy your dog may ignore by tomorrow. 😉

It’s a good opportunity to ask a more important question:

Are we giving our dogs what they actually need?

Understanding the dog in front of you.
Giving them your time.
Training for more freedom.
Setting fair expectations.
Making responsible choices for the life of your dog.

Because one of the best ways to celebrate your dog is to become the owner they need.

Just got this message from a client who finished up with us and honestly, this is why I do this job. 🐾

Watching someone go from "I don't know what I'm doing" to walking their dog like it's second nature — that never gets old. It's the same feeling as finally not having to think about which pedal is which when you're driving. One day it just clicks, and you forget it was ever hard.
