šŸ“¢ COMMUNITY AWARENESS – EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY FOR INDIGENOUS STUDENTS

We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity through the Manitoba Indigenous Teacher Education Program (MITEP) for individuals interested in pursuing a career in Education.

MITEP is a community-based program designed specifically for Indigenous students living in Northern communities within the five areas of the Frontier School Division. The program allows students to work toward their Education Degree while remaining in their home communities and staying connected to their families and culture.

The program focuses on culture, community, and holistic student support while preparing future educators with the knowledge, skills, and classroom experience needed for success.
Program Highlights:
• Program begins in September 2026
• Combination of in-person and online course delivery
• Summer Institute held in Cranberry Portage beginning July 2027
• Students may bring their children to the summer sessions
• Accommodation and children’s activities will be provided
• Ongoing mentorship and faculty support throughout the program
Upon completion of the five-year program, students will earn:
• Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Indigenous Studies with a minor in Indigenous Language
• Bachelor of Education Degree with a focus on Middle Years Education

Community members who are passionate about working with children, supporting education, and strengthening Indigenous culture and language are encouraged to apply.

In-person Adult Education classes are cancelled today due to the Parent/Teacher meetings taking place at the ALC. I will be working remotely and am still able to offer assistance via Messenger or email.

If you are a parent of school-aged students, don’t forget to drop in to see your children’s teachers. Today is a celebration of their success!
