Today, Loyalist College recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Across our college community, we wear orange to honour Survivors of Canada’s residential school system, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the families and communities who continue to live with the impacts of the residential school system.

This week, we are creating space for learning, reflection and dialogue through ceremony, art, traditions and teachings shared across our Belleville campus.

We began the week on Monday with an Opening Fire at the A’nó:wara Learning Circle and the unveiling of Truth Before Reconciliation, a new large-scale timeline installation at the Tsi Titewaya’taró:roks Indigenous Centre.

Tracing destructive colonial policies and the profound harm they caused alongside acts of Indigenous resistance and advocacy, the timeline asks us to deepen our understanding of our shared history and consider how the past continues to shape the present.

Truth must come before reconciliation. And while this week gives us an important opportunity to focus our attention, the work of reconciliation continues beyond Sept. 30.

Two new graduate certificates are coming to Loyalist College in Fall 2027, creating opportunities to build specialized skills in critical care nursing and cyber security.

🏥 Registered Nurse – Critical Care Nursing

Designed for registered nurses entering the critical care specialty or strengthening their practice. Students will build clinical decision-making skills through advanced theory, simulation and a supervised placement.

🔐 Cyber Security

Students will gain hands-on experience in network and cloud security, digital forensics, incident response and risk management, with opportunities to pursue industry certifications alongside their studies.

Both one-year programs combine applied learning with the specialized knowledge needed to support patients, communities and organizations.
