🎉 Celebrating 25 Years of Kinder Learning Centres! 🎉

Last night, we came together for a special anniversary BBQ to celebrate an incredible milestone — 25 years of Renae owning and operating Kinder Learning Centres in the Quinte region! ❤️

For 25 years, Renae has been dedicated to providing quality childcare, creating meaningful learning experiences, and building a place where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow. But Kinder has always been about so much more than childcare. It’s about the relationships built with families, the connections made between educators, and the lasting memories created along the way. 🌿

Through her leadership, passion, and commitment to early childhood education, Renae has created something truly special — a community built on trust, care, learning, and connection. From welcoming new families through our doors to supporting educators in making a difference every day, her impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

We are so grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey over the past 25 years. To our families, past and present staff, and the entire Kinder community, thank you for growing with us, trusting us, and helping make Kinder what it is today.

And most importantly, congratulations to Renae on 25 years of dedication, hard work, and an incredible legacy in early learning. What began as a vision has grown into something that has touched so many children, families, and educators across the region. Here’s to celebrating everything you’ve built and all the wonderful things still to come! 🥂✨

25 years of learning. 25 years of growing. 25 years of connections that last a lifetime. 💚

🎃✨ Following their curiosity in Toddler 1! ✨🎃

A message from our educator Brandi about this incredible learning opportunity.

✨Our pumpkin exploration began with interest in some pumpkin decor that was brought in to the toddler one program. We brought a small pumpkin after seeing this interest to begin to takeoff. This evolved into an interest in observing and touching the outside of a pumpkin. As the children became more curious, we introduced new language such as orange, smooth, rough, hard, and soft while encouraging them to describe what they noticed. This interest naturally progressed to exploring the inside of the pumpkin, where the children encountered new textures and vocabulary including slimy, wet, squishy, sticky, and seeds. Some children embraced the messy sensory experience, while others communicated their preferences by saying “eww,” demonstrating that children were able to make individual choices and express their responses to the experience.

As their interest continued, we incorporated spoons, magnifying glasses, pots, and pans to encourage further investigation and experimentation. The children explored scooping, transferring, examining, and mixing the pumpkin materials before extending the experience into a simple science experiment using baking soda and vinegar to observe the bubbling reaction. We then introduced a larger pumpkin, inviting the children to compare the two pumpkins and consider “How are they the same?” and “How are they different?” Through this progression, the children’s initial interest in a pumpkin developed into an extended investigation supporting sensory exploration, language development, scientific thinking, comparison, problem-solving, fine motor skills, and curiosity.

This experience demonstrates how following the children’s interests can create meaningful opportunities for learning that evolve naturally through their questions, observations, and hands-on discoveries. ✨

🧡 Every Child Matters

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we took time to thoughtfully introduce our youngest learners to the importance of remembering, listening, learning, and honouring.

Through age-appropriate stories, conversations, art experiences, and opportunities to explore the meaning behind the orange shirt, our educators created space for children to begin developing an understanding of why we remember this day and why the work of reconciliation matters.

For our youngest learners, these conversations are not about understanding every detail of Canada’s history. They are about planting the seeds of kindness, respect, belonging, and understanding — and helping children learn that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, loved, and at home.

We recognize that learning about residential schools and their lasting impact is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continuing these conversations in ways that are respectful, thoughtful, and developmentally appropriate, while creating opportunities for children to learn about and celebrate Indigenous cultures, voices, histories, and perspectives throughout the year.

Today, we remember the children who never came home, honour Survivors and their families, and continue to listen and learn.

🧡 Every Child Matters.
🧡 Remember. Learn. Listen. Reconcile.

🍁🍂 Falling into learning in Preschool 4! 🍂🍁

Our Preschoolers in Pre 4 have been noticing the changing seasons all around them and have been sharing their observations, questions, and ideas about what makes fall different from the seasons before it. 🍃🌻

We’ve taken their interest in the changing seasons and incorporated it into our curriculum through hands-on, child-led learning experiences. From exploring fall colours and textures to creating, sorting, observing, and experimenting, the children have been learning with their hands, minds, and senses. 👐✨

These experiences give children the opportunity to be active participants in their learning — helping to shape the activities, make choices, ask questions, share ideas, and explore their own theories.

We love watching their curiosity guide our curriculum and seeing where their questions take us next! 🍂❤️

📣 **Ontario Parents — Your Voice Matters When It Comes to the Future of Child Care**

**YourChildCare.ca** is an advocacy website created to raise awareness about the uncertainty facing Ontario’s child care system as major funding agreements approach their expiry dates.

The site explains concerns facing families and child care operators, including rising operating costs, educator shortages, long waitlists, limited child care spaces and uncertainty about what families may pay in the future.

It also outlines **ACE’s 10-point child care plan**, which proposes changes aimed at creating a more financially sustainable system for families, educators and licensed child care providers.

Most importantly, the website gives parents and supporters an easy way to **send a letter directly to their Member of Parliament and Member of Provincial Parliament** and add their name in support of the proposed plan.

Whether you currently have a child in care, are sitting on a waitlist, are expecting a child, or simply care about the future of licensed child care in Ontario, the website provides information and a way to make your voice heard.

👉 **Visit: YourChildCare.ca**

Please take a few minutes to read about what is happening and learn more about the proposed changes. The decisions being made now could have a significant impact on child care availability, affordability and sustainability in Ontario in the years ahead.

Support ACE’s 10-point plan to strengthen child care in Ontario. On December 31, 2026, the hold on Ontario child care fees ends. On March 31, 2027, the agreement funding the entire system expires. The $10-a-day promise has already been abandoned, with fees stuck at an average of $19 a day. Familie...
