It is my passion to help people to understand themselves with greater clarity using the Enneagram as a helpful tool.

Spring has finally arrived (more or less) and it’s getting easier to get outside. Did you know that like plants, we actually depend on sunlight to maintain health? Some sun exposure everyday is vitally important for so many of our bodies’ systems. This is why I want to start a challenge: head outside for 15 minutes a day for the month of May. That’s it. 15 minutes. Let’s see how this small tweak in our daily schedule can bring about benefits to our health. If you can do more, that’s even better, but we need to start somewhere. Comment if you’ve done it and let us know how you feel.

Because of this, I’m planning for our classes in May to be at East Hill Park on Bleecker Ave. Friday evenings at 6:30. If the weather doesn’t permit, we will meet at an indoor location.

What do you see when you look in the mirror? There was a time I avoided mirrors. They served as a reminder of all the ways I failed. No matter what I did, I couldn’t turn myself into the idealized image I had in my mind. It didn’t matter if I lost weight or bought new clothes, my reflection wasn’t good enough. Good enough for who? If I’m honest, it was me. The idealized image in my mind was created by me and for me. I wanted to make myself better…for me.

I had to make a pivot. This is not my body. I didn’t make it this way. What makes me think I get to define its purpose? What makes me think I get to decide if it’s good enough? The Creator of all things decided that this is how I should look. He made me this way. He looks at me and loves me in this condition, as I am, right now. He loves me with my scars. He loves me at this current weight. He loves me when I get sick. He loves me when others don’t love me perfectly. If He made me this way for my good and for His glory, then who am I to question the way that I look or call it “not good enough”?

When I look in the mirror today, I know I’m good enough. I am fully loved, wholly cherished, and my Creator delights in me.

I know that the Enneagram isn’t for everybody. It isn’t an infallible source of truth, it’s just a tool. I hope I never put so much importance on this tool that has imperfections and can be easily misinterpreted or misused.

I also know that redemption and healing are for everybody. I know that through the power of the Holy Spirit we can be set free from lies that bind us, habits that are destructive, and shame that doesn’t belong to us.

The Enneagram is one resource of many that can be used as a springboard for spiritual reflection and prayer and can help people to find a deeper understanding of themselves and ultimately a deeper relationship with the God who created them.

It’s ok if this tool isn’t for you, but may I encourage you to find a tool that is? We get one life. None of us can afford to waste time not fulfilling our God-given purpose. There is a life of abundance and freedom that’s waiting for us.

So often our approach to life is upside down. We operate under the assumption that this world and our lives in it are about us. Going after self-improvement to make things easier and better for ourselves. When we flip our perspective, restoring God to His proper place of ownership over all creation, spiritual growth and improvement become less about us becoming better for our own sake and more about stepping into our original, God-given purpose. God wants to redeem and restore His creation, not for its own sake, but for His.

Commitment is hard. Every time we commit to something, we’re letting go of something else. When you commit to learning more about yourself, you are letting go of the false persona you’ve been hiding behind. It can be scary.

If you’re curious about how learning your Enneagram type can help you in your everyday life, you can schedule a free, 20 minute consultation with me. We can see if this type of coaching is a good fit for you and if we’re a good fit for each other.

Fearfully and wonderfully made. Do you believe that? Every inch of you, inside and out, was created intricately and intentionally by someone who loves you unendingly. That fact alone means that you have value. Each part of your psychological framework has been especially designed for you. The way that you think, feel, and respond to others is a result of your intentionally unique personality.

Each one of us have been fearfully and wonderfully made with specific strengths that when used well can benefit others around us. If we don’t spend the time to understand ourselves, we risk missing out on using those strengths to their fullest. Doing Enneagram work is one way to uncover gifts that you might be withholding.

Take that time for yourself. The world needs what you have to offer.

Worn out, frustrated, aimless… is this you? It was definitely me. Being unaware of my inner motivations, my strengths, and my weaknesses left me so restless. The enneagram opened my eyes to ways I was misdirecting my energy trying to fit into roles that didn’t suit me. It showed me ways that I was trying to feel fulfilled in my relationships without success. It pointed out lies that I was believing about myself that were driving some of my defensive behaviours.

In a series of 5 sessions I can help you to understand your core motivations (what drives your actions), identify messages you may have been believing since childhood, and notice patterns in your interactions with others that may be counter-productive. At the end of 5 sessions you will understand more about who you are, how you function best, and how to improve your relationships.
