The final carrots harvested today with my boy. 80lbs today with a total of 230lbs this year. Got a little obsessed with weighing everything 😅 But I believe it will be great data if I’d like to progress with harvest boxes for next year.

I grew:
- Nantas
- Short n sweet
- chantonay
- black nebula
- red Kyoto
- Manpukuji

Faves were the top three.

The chickens finally get to nibble on the fruit tree guild which includes herbs, grasses, pumpkin, currant, josta berry, mint, calendula.

Comfrey is there for a chop n drop mulch. They won’t eat much of it.

They shall feast!

Tomatoes overfloweth

The bounty of outdoor tomato growing is coming to a close. I’ve picked a couple buckets with 20lbs in each.

They’ve been indoors ripening and as the colour develops I either, chop up for salsa, dry, ferment or pop in the freezer on sheet pans then transfer to bags until I’m ready to do a big batch of sauce.

120 lbs of determinate and indeterminate tomatoes. Mostly green! They will stagger their ripening in buckets once they’ve dried off on the towels. I’ve made sauce, fermented salsas and hot sauce, fermented chutney, sundried fermented tomatoes then bathed in olive oil and some pretty pineapple tomatoes sliced onto artisinal bread 🤤.

Some will get a banana in the buckets to speed up the ripening process and some will go into cold storage to slow it down, then I’ll have ripe tomatoes months from now!

Saw a cool spider in the tomatoes.

George and Cleo don’t want to eat each other anymore..

Gotta go out and get some greenhouse tomatoes now! 👋
