Crave Arts Academy’s STEAM“M” program in Barrie is the missing piece of the puzzle in today’s education because it fills the gaps traditional systems leave open. We don’t simply teach core academics or creative arts. We add the essential layer that modern learners need: social and emotional learning, creative innovation, leadership, collaborative teamwork, problem solving, communication, and empathy. These are the skills that truly prepare young people for a rapidly changing economy.

At Crave Arts Academy, the arts are not an afterthought. They are the engine that drives curiosity, imagination, emotional intelligence, and the ability to understand others. By integrating the full STEAM“M” approach — science, technology, engineering, arts, math, and mindset — we help children grow into confident creators and compassionate thinkers. We develop tomorrow’s entrepreneurs by nurturing creativity and purpose today.

What makes us different is that we are not a just a childcare service. We are enriched education offered through childcare needs. We create programs with intention, with meaning, and with the goal of inspiring every child to reach their highest potential. The arts for empathy, combined with a future‑focused STEAM“M” framework, is what education has been missing — and it’s exactly what Crave Arts Academy brings to families in Barrie, Ontario.

WELCOME to Crave Arts Academy and Arts for Empathy's Award winning STEAM program. 7 things to know behind our advanced and enriched programming, and why Crave Arts Academy is noted as a trailblazer in Innovation for Barrie Ontario.
WHY children of today need the benefits of STEAM:

1. Collaborative approach
Instead of competing with each other, the students are taught to learn to collaborate, especially when it comes to projects. They learn how to contribute their knowledge, skills, and talent in achieving common goals, and are prepared to become team players at work.

2. Encourages creativity
Instead of merely following fixed instructions or steps, students are encouraged to develop their own methods of solving problems or accomplishing a project. The STEAM curriculum emphasizes the fact that there are many possible approaches to problem-solving.

3. Improves social skills
Since the STEAM curriculum has a holistic collaborative approach, it also helps improve students’ emotional intelligence and social skills. They learn how to work with others and be expressive, and to become more socially adaptable.

4. Exposure to multimedia and multiplatform education
Students will not only learn about laboratory equipment or scientific instruments, they will also be exposed to various media and platforms. These will include various art materials, digital tools, hardware, machines, and different methods. For example, a student can learn how to use CAD when designing a building or machine.

5. Critical thinking skills
Critical thinking is about the ability to examine the factual and logical merit of a new set of information, and form a rational and informed opinion about certain issues.

6. Boosts curiosity
Students are encouraged to be inquisitive and curious about a wide range of topics. They are trained to ask deeper questions about how and why things work.
7. Real-world applications
Students are taught not only theoretical and academic concepts, but more importantly, real-world applications of their knowledge and skills.

The importance of STEAM education can’t be overstated, especially when it comes to preparing students for the real world challenges. The integrated and holistic approach of STEAM education makes the students more adaptable to a wide range of situations and challenges.

Why are our STEAM programs are enriched and different then STEM?

Arts for Empathy looks at core academics, creative arts and important characteristics in childhood development through play and creation. Hands on creativity without screens.
WHY?
Because, “Childhood is a special part of a human’s life, which for the most part determines further opportunities for personal development, the ability to reveal own potential in the future, and has a significant impact on one’s self-realization in adulthood. Therefore, it is extremely important to create an environment in early childhood that promote the most effective conditions for development of a child, taking into account all influencing factors.”
