Applying to art school without guidance is like trying to draw a hand from memory at 2 AM: unnecessarily stressful and rarely turns out how you planned. 😅

Building a standout portfolio isn’t just about making cool art; it’s about knowing what admissions officers are actually hunting for. That’s why having mentors who’ve survived the process (plus a crew of fellow artists grinding alongside you) changes everything. You get real feedback, expert direction, and zero guesswork.

Just come draw.

Maybe you’re an artist who hasn’t picked up a sketchbook in a while.
Maybe you’re retired and finally have time to make room for something you’ve always wanted to try.
Maybe you’re a student looking for some extra practice.
Or maybe you just really, really want to sit down for two and a half hours and draw without anyone telling you what your drawing should look like.

Our Uninstructed Life Drawing sessions are back this Saturday at Drawing House.

Working from a live n**e model, you’ll have the freedom to work at your own pace.

Pick a colour. Any colour. We’ll probably have it. And if we don’t, we know where to look.

Welcome to Drawing House, your cozy neighbourhood art supply store, curated by artists for people who like to make things.

We’re a small, local Canadian business with a big soft spot for artists, makers, students, hobbyists, and anyone who has ever walked into an art store “just to look” and walked out with twelve tubes of paint.

Our shelves are thoughtfully stocked with tools and materials we genuinely love, including products from Canadian artists and makers whenever we can. Our team knows their stuff, loves talking shop, and is always happy to help you find the right material, troubleshoot a creative problem, or simply get excited about what you’re making.

Come visit us in person, browse our online store, take a class, or just wander the aisles until something sparks an idea.

Because sometimes the best part of making something is finding the right tool and thinking, “Wait... I could actually do this.”

Let’s make something.

What if this fall, you learned something you’ve always wanted to make? 🍂🎨

A character that’s been living in your head. A portrait you’ve been afraid to attempt. A painting that needs to exist outside your imagination. Or maybe you simply want to sit down, make things, and remember how good it feels to create.

Drawing House Fall Classes are here.✨

Whether you’re an absolute beginner, a seasoned sketchbook lover, or somewhere wonderfully in between, there’s a place for you.

🎨 Adults:drawing, painting, watercolour, life drawing & more
✏️ Kids: build skills, explore materials, create characters and let imagination run wild
🌟 Teens: anime, manga, drawing, character design and developing your own creative voice

No intimidating prerequisites. No need to already “be good at art.” Just curiosity, a willingness to try, and the occasional willingness to erase something spectacularly.

Come learn a new technique. Build your confidence. Try the medium you’ve always wanted to try. And meet other people who also think spending an afternoon making something from nothing sounds like an excellent use of time.

This fall, don’t just admire what other people make. Make something of your own.

Browse our Fall class lineup and find your creative corner at Drawing House.

There’s a moment when an idea stops being an idea and becomes something you can hold.

A sketch. A painting. A character. A weird little experiment that somehow turns into your new favourite thing.

At Drawing House, we believe making things is one of the best ways to find out what you’re capable of. Come wander through the store, discover a tool you’ve never tried, get inspired by the possibilities, then take a class and learn how to actually use it. 🎨✏️

Because confidence doesn’t arrive before you start creating. You build it by making.

And somewhere along the way, you might meet a few wonderfully creative people who are just as excited to make, learn, experiment, and occasionally get paint where paint absolutely did not belong. 😉

Come see what you could make.

Got a kid who spends their days inventing characters, creatures, and entire worlds in the margins of their homework? This camp was made for them.

🎨 Character Creation Camp
📅 July 6 to July 10
🕑 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM daily

Over five imagination-packed afternoons, young artists will create their own original character, discover who they are, where they came from, and what stories they carry with them. Through drawing, they’ll explore expression, personality, costume design, and visual storytelling before bringing their creations to life again through mixed media experiments and artistic reinterpretation.

By the end of the week, they’ll leave with more than artwork. They’ll leave with a character ready for adventures of their own.

Spaces are limited. Your future protagonist is waiting. ✏️✨
