Welcome Spencer to our adult class in Barrie!

Spencer previously trained in Goju Ryu Karate and has now decided to take on the challenge of Kyokushin.

Over the years, our dojo has consistently attracted martial artists from a wide range of styles and backgrounds. Stepping onto a new mat with an open mind takes real humility and dedication.

Our door is always open to anyone willing to put in the work and share the mat with us, no matter where their martial arts journey started.

Looking forward to training with you, Spencer. Welcome to the team!

Nobody gets handed a black belt around here just for putting in time.

In Kyokushin, it takes years of hard training, sore mornings, and building the kind of mental grit where you simply refuse to quit. That’s why our ranks carry real weight, and why watching another one of our students earn theirs means everything to this dojo.

Curious if you have what it takes?

Step into the dojo and see for yourself. We’ll be right there to guide you through every round.

Stepping into a dojo as an adult can be tough. Finding a place that actually cares makes all the difference.

We get it—jobs, mortgages, family, and a body that remembers every bad decision from your twenties. The last thing you need is to feel like just another number in a packed class.

At our Barrie dojo, we keep classes small and friendly. You get direct coaching, real conversation, and a community that sticks around after training.
No hidden fees. No contracts. And if your kids train with us, your adult classes are free.

Show up. We’ll meet you where you are.

A warm welcome to Karim who is stationed at base Borden with the Canadian Army and decided to continue his karate journey at Contact Kicks Barrie Dojo.
A hardworking, respectful karateka and soldier. He has experience in Kyokushin, and we are happy to have him in the CKMA family.

The martial way continues wherever you are.

This is what real instruction looks like at Contact Kicks Barrie Dojo.

While most schools let kids just go through the motions, Shihan Steve works hands-on with every student — correcting form, raising the standard, and making sure the details actually matter.

In the background, Senpai Mici is building the foundation with the beginners.
At Contact Kicks, we don’t lower the bar so everyone feels successful. We raise the level of the students so they earn it.
That’s why parents notice the difference at home and at school — better focus, more confidence, and kids who don’t quit when things get hard.

A parent came into the dojo the other day with their guard all the way up. They had just walked out of another local big commercial school that wouldn't let their kids join without signing a twelve-month contract and paying upfront on the spot.

When I told them how we do things, they kept waiting for the catch.

There isn't one. I put together a short blog on our site about why we refuse to lock families into contracts, why our actual rates are posted right out in the open, and why earning a black belt here takes a whole lot longer than big commercial clubs like to admit.

Worth two minutes of your time before you sign paperwork anywhere:

People often ask what the vibe is like here before walking in.

It's simple, just solid people working hard. No big egos, nobody trying to prove anything, and zero attitude.

You show up after a long day, kick your shoes off, sweat it out, and leave feeling a lot better than when you walked in.

If you’re in Barrie and want a down-to-earth place to train, drop by 101 Ardagh Rd. anytime to say hello and see the floor.
