How to make coloured pasta for SENSORY PLAY!

- Grab some plastic containers or bags
- Pick your pasta of choice
- Grab your favourite acrylic paints
-Place pasta into a ziplock or plastic container
- Generously sq**rt paint onto pasta
- Add one or two teaspoons of hand sanitizer gel
- Shake until pasta is covered, add more paint if needed
- Pour onto parchment paper or wax paper and spread out to dry
- Once dry, store in a zip lock container out of the sun
- Play with clean hands away from water and this pasta can last months and months!

Scoop, pour, transfer! We’re working on those fine motor skills, hand eye coordination and sensory input.

🎃 Five Little Pumpkins 🎃

Did you sing this song as a kid? Or with your students? The girls love this song, and we have the book as well.

This set up includes many loose parts in groups of five.
We focused on the number five in this play.

Thanks little for both sets of our pumpkin loose parts, and the letters to spell FIVE.

🎃 Spooky season is here! 🎃

Loving this warm summer weather however I must say. This spooky play tray was one of our favourites.

Don’t throw out those Mothers Day flowers! Let them dry out and sprinkle the petals in your next batch of play dough! What a fun texture for the kiddos to explore and it smells divine 🥀

It’s finally feeling like Spring here! This season is all about new life and a fresh start. We love to garden and plant each year, and the kids love to dig in and help. Why not bring the garden indoors with a fun and easy gardening sensory bin? Here we’ve used dried lentils and a few fun accessories from the local dollar store. A great way to play and explore indoors or in a classroom environment.

Fine motor Snowman ☃️

It was so simple, we cut off the wrapper of an old puff container and used a permanent market to draw on the snowman parts, and voila!

I had some cotton balls we used with tongs to fill the container but both girls also really loved used the faux ice cubes too.

What a fun and easy hack for the win. We also love a good upcycle!

Riding out this polar vortex ❄️☃️ The kids have been inside for recess all week! When the kids were younger and we were cooped up indoors all day, my go to was always a fresh sensory bin. I also love having that option in my classrooms too. A bright colourful rice and some shiny chickpeas is perfect for inspiring some sensory play.

How are we already into winter? Anyone else feel like the school year just started? It is so cold and snowy where we are, this play felt very appropriate.

The “ice cubes” we used in this tray have been such a favourite in our house and in my classrooms. The kids use these in so many ways. They’re so much fun too in the house centre for “drinks” and smoothies.

Thanks for always creating the most adorable resin treasures too, we use these in our bins/trays every time!

✨Holiday Light Strands ✨

For this one you need some black play dough (or any colour really) and colourful pasta!! I like that this pasta is already naturally coloured so no need for paint. It also makes it friendly to tiny hands and mouths, however not safe for eating unless cooked.

In this set up we’re working on colour recognition, making a pattern, fine motor work and dexterity.

Hack! Add little pumpkin faces to orange pouch caps for fun up-cycled loose parts.

💚Salt Tray letters but make it spooky!💚

Have you tried a salt tray before? They’re a great way to practise writing letters and numbers before using a pencil.
Simply pour table salt into a bag and add your food colour of choice. Mix it up and lay in on a pan to dry. Once dried a shallow tray or pan can be used to trace.

We paired ours with resin letters!
