Every resuscitation team makes mistakes during training.

The question is: Can you recognize them, learn from them, encourage one another, and keep moving forward as a team?

Simulation creates a safe place to make those mistakes—because it’s far better to learn those lessons in training than during a real Code Blue.

🧩 Putting the pieces together.

During a Code Blue, success isn’t about remembering one algorithm—it’s about bringing together assessment, teamwork, communication, leadership, and clinical decision-making when every second counts.

These Family Medicine Residents at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital spent the day doing exactly that through ACLS simulations.

What a great day teaching our latest PALS course. It’s always rewarding to watch participants grow in confidence as they work through realistic scenarios, support one another, and celebrate their successes together.

I am the “deer-in-the-headlights” baby.

This photo says more than any résumé ever could.

Long before I became a nurse, I was learning what it meant to truly care for people—right here in my mom’s arms. The way she showed up for others, the quiet strength, the compassion, the patience… that was my first education.

Nursing school gave me the knowledge and skills, but she taught me the heart behind it all. I remember her teaching me before going to school to show extra kindness to those who have special needs or who may be different than me; they just might be angels in disguise.

Mom also taught first-aid and CPR and inspired me to become a nurse and educator.

Everything I am in this profession started with her. With Mother’s Day approaching, I want to honour my mom who taught how to teach, how to care for someone’s physical needs and how to work hard. Mom has always worked hard caring for others. And now I’m excited that my children also get to learn from her.
