This beginner-friendly course explores watercolour through landscape painting, with a focus on building core skills and confidence with the medium. Through relaxed demos and hands-on exercises, you will develop a practical toolkit of techniques you can continue using in your own work.

You will learn essential approaches like wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry, blending, layering, composition, and notan, with guidance on when and how to use each. By the end, you’ll be able to create your own interpretations of landscape with more control and clarity.

Curious about gelli plate printmaking? 🎨

In this one-day workshop, you’ll explore a range of techniques using a gelli plate to create layered, one-of-a-kind prints.

Through four guided demos, you’ll learn how to apply paint and pull your first print, register paper for clean layers, and build up depth on a single page. You’ll also experiment with image transfers, botanical printing using natural textures, and painting directly onto the plate to create monoprints.

You’ll leave with a collection of prints, new techniques, and a solid understanding of how to keep experimenting on your own.

All materials are provided.

In this introductory, hands-on course, you will build a strong foundation in knitting from casting on and mastering knit and purl stitches to casting off and reading basic patterns. Along the way, you will also explore decorative embroidery techniques and creative visible mending methods to bring new life to fabric or garments.

With a focus on learning by doing, you will get comfortable with materials, develop your skills, and complete a series of personalized projects you can feel proud of. These are timeless techniques you can carry into many future creative projects.

Want to get more out of your camera? 📷

This three-day course is designed for anyone with a 35mm SLR or mirrorless camera who wants to better understand how to use it. You will combine in-class learning with daily outdoor photography sessions around Bancroft, using the landscape as your classroom.

Each outing connects directly to what you have learned, so you can apply new skills right away. You will cover the fundamentals of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and composition, and how they work together to control light, motion, and depth.

Through guided practice, you will build confidence photographing landscapes, wildlife, action, and long exposures, while developing both your technical skills and creative eye.
