Aaaaaand, We’re BACK! School starts next week and with that comes the annual ‘Welcome Back BBQ’ for the students! But we need YOUR help. Is there a BBQ that we can borrow out there on Wednesday Sept 7th?? We would need it delivered to the school around 11:00 AM if possible. Playground Project Update:

We have trees!!!! These beauties are coming along nicely. We look forward to them creating shelter from the wind for the kids in the future.

We got you high school kids! Your tables have arrived. Can you believe these kids had no where to sit outside. AND, our new basketball backboards, rims and chain nets just arrived this week! We are in communications with Kris McNaughton, owner of Flash Welding to put these together for us in the early parts of summer! Thank you so much Kris!

We have so much more planned. It’s all starting to come together. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project! It’s amazing what can happen when a community comes together and we have a great one!

The LAST hot lunch of the year!! 82 chicken fingers, fries and an Ice Cream sandwich were delivered today. Thank you to Backhome Restaurant and Catering for partnering up with the Avonlea SCC to bring a hot lunch to our students once a month! Nadine Bermudez

ATTENTION COMMUNITY MEMBERS!
As part of the continued journey and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Avonlea School will be taking part in a Treaty 4 ceremony tomorrow, June 1, beginning at 11:00.
We will welcome Elder Shirley Wolfe-Keller, Veteran Deon Hassler, and the Red Dog Singers to our school and community. All community members are invited to attend and join our circle.
We will be standing outdoors through the ceremony which will be approximately 40 minutes. We ask everyone to dress appropriately for the formality of the ceremony, As the temperatures are going to be quite cool, everyone is encouraged to dress warmly.
