What a beautiful way to close out our first week back at Aurora Montessori School 🇨🇦 !

We are so proud of our children for the joy, curiosity, independence, and enthusiasm they brought with them each day. 💛

From reconnecting with friends to settling back into our classroom rhythms, it has been a wonderful week of learning, growing, and finding our way back together.

Thank you to our amazing families for helping make this first week such a special one. We hope everyone has a restful and happy weekend!

Instead of a teacher saying “that is wrong,” the materials themselves show the child when something needs adjustment.

Here are 3 amazing examples of materials that provide Control of Error in our classrooms:

1️⃣ The Cylinder Blocks: If a child puts a cylinder in the wrong hole, the last cylinder will not fit. The mistake is instantly clear!

2️⃣ The Dressing Frames: If buttons are skipped, the fabric will be crooked and mismatched at the top.

3️⃣ The Binomial Cube: If the colored cube sand prisms are placed incorrectly, they will not match the visual pattern on the box lid, and the box will not close properly.

✨ Worksheets fade. But the smell of wood polish and the splash of water on tiny hands? That lasts a lifetime.

This is the beautiful reality of a Montessori education.

At Aurora Montessori School 🇨🇦 learning isn’t just an assignment—it’s a hands-on, sensorial, heart-felt experience for every single child.

Sure, a child could memorize land and water forms on a flat 2D worksheet. It would certainly be less messy and less time-consuming for everyone... but would that memory stay with them for years to come? Probably not.

When our Montessori alumni visit us, they don’t talk about worksheets. They joyfully recall their favorite pieces of work, brought to life by vivid sensory memories:

In a Montessori classroom, this isn’t just a chore—it’s a beloved “Practical Life” activity.

While it looks like a simple cleaning exercise, this work actually helps children develop:
