At we deepen our students understanding of language through tactile, hands-on exploration.
✨In the Montessori elementary classroom grammar is not taught through repetitive worksheets…
Instead, students engage their reasoning minds to explore the mechanics of language using three distinct, physical materials:
🔴 Grammar Symbols: Beautiful wooden 3D geometric shapes such as a large black triangle for a noun and a vibrant red circle for a verb—are placed directly on top of words to physically label parts of speech.
🎯 Sentence Analysis: Students use specialized wooden charts and arrows to physically deconstruct sentences, mapping out subjects, direct objects, and modifiers like a visual puzzle.
🎭 Command Cards: Language becomes a social experience as students read and perform collaborative actions, bringing parts of speech to life through purposeful movement.
By treating syntax as something to be physically manipulated, our students develop a precise, sophisticated command of written expression. 📝

🦋 THEY’RE AIRBORNE! 🦋
Our students officially released our Painted Lady butterflies into the wild!
The sunshine made the day absolutely perfect for observing their takeoff. ☀️
It was a magical moment watching them take flight.

What we learned during this hands-on project:
🐛 Observed the full lifecycle from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly.
🧬 Learned the science behind metamorphosis.
🌱 Practiced environmental stewardship and care for living things.
Fun fact: The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) is found on every continent except Antarctica and can migrate thousands of kilometres! 🌍

This is one of the biggest ways Montessori education stands out amongst traditional schooling …
Learning is a hands on, sensorial, heart felt experience for every single child.
Yes, a child could practice math facts on work sheets …
Yes, it would be less messy and less time consuming for the child and teacher …but would it stay in their heart for years to come? Probably not.
Our Montessori alumni come back and joyfully recall completing their favourite pieces of work. They remember the smell of the polish they used to clean glass, wood, silver and brass! They remember the calming feeling of the water on their hands as they washed cloths and the beautiful colourful beads in the math area of the classroom.
These were real heart experiences for them ♥️
We know that every child learns through their head, heart and hands so it is our priority to make every lesson meet the needs of the whole child!
