A powerful morning for our Grade 9 class! 🔋 They toured the OPG Atikokan Generating Station to learn firsthand about power production, water treatment, and environmental sustainability. A massive thank you to Megan, Kevin, and Jason for the fantastic tour and for sharing your expertise with our students!

Wow! Thanks to families that joined us at last week's book fair, we are able to add almost $1000 worth of new books to our library.

The Natural Resoures Technology dual credit class was busy this year with a wide array of ongoing research projects including: salamander monitoring, ecosystem assessment and monitoring, birch tree tapping and plant growth research in the greenhouse. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a high school credit and college credit that can be used directly towards a diploma in Environmental or Forestry technology at Confederation College or can be applied as a general college credit.

A new force to be reckoned with, the NLS track and field team took to Thunder Bay in May. With positivity and hard work, they were able to put on an incredible display not seen from an Atikokan school in some time. We are looking forward to the next season with enthusiasm and pride on building a successful and lasting program here at NLS!
