Hi! My name is Janis. I was born in Newfoundland into a very musical family. My dad taught himself the organ and led a choir, my aunt plays piano and led and toured with a music group, my uncle plays guitar, etc.

I started learning piano at age 5. I basically trained thru the Royal Conservatory of Music program privately, and then followed up with lessons at Alberta Conservatory. I studied Jazz at GMCC shortly after.

Last year I completed the Royal Conservatory of Music Elementary Teachers course which specialized in classical music training.

My first time accompanying a musical theatre production, I was 17 years old. Since then I have accompanied many dinner theatre productions, and choirs, played for Edmonton School of Ballet, numerous vocal students, and currently accompany my church worship team.

Music is my passion and have decided to share this skill and my knowledge with others.
I teach classical, pop, chording, technique, sight reading, theory … each lesson is crafted to suit the participant and makes learning to play piano fun and creative.
