In addition to our SCDAA award recipients earlier this week, we have a few coaches/officials that have hit certain milestones in years of service to ACHS and our South Central District. These individuals are: Josh Nesvold (5 yrs), Curtis Lucas (5 yrs), Josh Benham (5 yrs), and Brent Chadwick (30 yrs).

Once again thank you to all of our coaches and officials who contribute to school sport in Rocket Nation!

Congratulations to Mr. Huyghebaert (SHSAA Official's Award), Sue Berner (District Service Award), and Mr. Ruthven (District Service Award) as they were among this year’s SCDAA Award Recipients!

The Rockets continued their success on day 2 of the SHSAA Provincial Track and Field Championships.

Sonora Lemieux competed in the intermediate girls quad where she set personal bests in 3/4 events including shot put (first overall in the quad), long jump, and the 800m. Sonora placed 11th overall, and was also selected to be part of the of the South Central intermediate girls 4x100 relay team.

The Rockets also had several other athletes selected for South Central District Relay 4x100 teams. Charlize Hillmer was on the junior girls team where they finished 4th. Dalton Kwasnicki was on the intermediate boys team and finished 5th. Ava Coghill was on the senior girls team where she helped to claim 2nd place and earned a provincial silver medal. Ava was also on the South Central girls 4x400 relay team where they earned a hard fought 3rd place finish and earned a provincial bronze medal.

Ava also continued to set new personal best times as she advanced out of the 200m heats and placed 10th overall.

Lily Kwasnicki had an amazing day earning two provincial silver medals; one in intermediate girls javelin and the other in discus.

Zeke McCaslin ran the intermediate boys 800m where he set a personal best. He placed 13th overall.

Emma Helland continued her success from day one into today in two separate field events; junior girls javelin and high jump. Emma battled hard earning 4th place in both events.

In the total points category, ACHS finished 3rd among fellow 3A schools; 20th overall among 200 different schools that were in attendance.

This concludes the track and field season. A big thanks goes out to our coaches: Mr. Huyghebaert, Ms. Svenson, Mrs. Saxton-Richards, Mr. Feeley, and Mr. Lothian.

Day 1 of the SHSAA Provincial Track and Field Championships is in the books, and it was a tremendous day for the Rocket athletes!

Olivia Auser, Emma Helland, Dalton Kwasnicki, and Luke Kwasnicki all advanced from their preliminary hurdles heats to the finals which was a significant achievement for the Rocket hurdlers. Olivia finished 13th overall in intermediate girls, Emma finished 10th in junior girls, Dalton finished 5th in intermediate boys, and Luke finished 13th in junior boys.

Dalton also finished 7th in the intermediate boys triple jump.

Zeke McCaslin set a new PB in the intermediate boys 1500m run and placed 10th overall.

Ava Coghill advanced out of the senior girls 400m preliminary heats to the finals setting a new PB and placed 6th overall.

Charlize Hillmer set season highs in the junior girls quad, and finished second overall winning a provincial silver medal!

Emma Helland set a PB in junior girls triple jump placing second and earned herself a provincial silver medal!

The track and field team had a fantastic outing at the South Central District Track and Field Meet yesterday. Several Rocket athletes achieved new personal bests while persevering in the gruelling heat!

Some of the highlights include the following athletes who finished in the top two of their event and will be advancing onto the SHSAA Provincial Championships.

Olivia Auser - 2nd in intermediate girls hurdles

Lily Kwasnicki - 1st in intermediate girls shot put, javelin, and discuss

Sonora Lemieux - 1st in intermediate girls quad

Emma Helland - junior girls aggregate champion - 2nd in hurdles, 2nd in high jump, 1st in triple jump, 2nd in javelin

Charlize Hillmer - 1st in junior girls quad

Ava Coghill - 2nd in senior girls 200m dash and 1st in 400m dash

Zeke McCaslin - 1st in intermediate boys 800m run and 2nd in 1500m run

Dalton Kwasnicki - intermediate boys aggregate champion - 1st in hurdles and triple jump

Luke Kwasnicki - 1st in junior boys triple jump and 2nd in hurdles
