Hello AJC families,
Our next A.J. Charbonneau School Council meeting will be held on Thursday, October 8 at 6 p.m. in the AJC library. This is a change from the meeting originally planned for November so that we can hold our School Council elections and get started on some important work for the year.
If you have thought about getting involved with School Council, we would really encourage you to join us.
What does School Council do?
School Council is one way for parents and guardians to have a voice in what is happening at AJC.
We bring parent perspectives to conversations about school priorities, student well-being, school improvements, communication and community partnerships. We also plan and support events, set fundraising priorities and decide how Council funds can best support students.
You do not need School Council experience to contribute. You know your child, you know your community, and your perspective matters. We welcome parents and guardians with different backgrounds, experiences, skills and ideas.
Elections – October 8
We will be electing three Council positions:
Chair – Leads meetings, prepares agendas and works closely with the principal and school community.
Secretary – Records meeting minutes and helps manage Council correspondence and records.
Treasurer – Oversees Council finances and required financial reporting.
Under AJC's current constitution, parents and guardians of students enrolled at the school elect the parent representatives on Council, with parents making up the majority of Council. Parents attending our first meeting can also indicate whether they would like to serve as a Council member for the year.
If you feel called to take on a leadership role, we encourage you to put your name forward for Chair, Secretary or Treasurer. You do not need to have served on Council before, and returning members are welcome to seek another term.

You must attend the October 8 meeting to vote. If you cannot attend in person, please let us know and we can provide a virtual option so you can participate.
