Well I’ve been quiet on here for awhile. Cooking a baby takes a lot of my energy these days 😉

But I’m here now to share with you one of my favourite activities!

Make your own potion? Why not?!

This was one of my go to activities I always did in the classroom with the students each year! The kids throughly enjoy it!

So much learning that goes on through this center:
✨sensory play
✨exploring through their 5 senses
✨measurement
✨filling, pouring and scooping
✨primary and secondary colours
✨fine motor skills
✨…….and so much more!

These skills are so important for your little
one to learn so they can develop critical thinking, problem solving and exploration!

Oh and I must mention, if your looking for some peace and quiet from your little one this activity will for sure engage them for some much needed quiet time 😉

⭐️ Add on: kids can add their potions into an empty water bottle (tape the top shut) then add a little label for them to write what their potions is for! So much fun! Creates another level of excitement to bring home to show families!

The ingredients can be anything you have around the house! What you see here: coloured water, bubbles, vinegar, baking soda, salt, sprinkles, shaving cream and lotion! Have your child choose some materials to add in as well such as different sized spoons, bowls etc!

A Beautiful Mess!💕❤️

Let me just say the BEST kind of art is the MESSY kind!

When we started this activity we didn’t have in mind an “end product” a “cookie cutter shape” we just had beautiful valentine materials. Paint, stickers, foam hearts, rose petals, glitter, paint sticks, etc.

What a Beautiful Valentine’s collage that inspired through the big MESS! Don’t be afraid to take a step back and admire the mess for a minute. It took about 10 minutes to clean up and so worth it!💕❤️

We have been busy this last little while creating and exploring some Valentine’s Activities❤️

There are so many reasons why letting your child explore with scissors (supervised)
and different materials is important.

So why not get started with a festive sensory bin full of ribbons and bows! Let the fun begin!✂️🎄 🎁♥️💚

SIMPLE. Activities don’t always have to be extravagant, although that can also be fun lol But sometimes all you need is a few buckets of soapy water, shovels, cups, paint brushes and some random rocks lol and your little one is set for hours of FUN! This is definitely one of our go to outside activities! 🪣☀️

BLOCK PLAY! 🟥🟧🟨🟩🟦🟪

Let’s talk about blocks!

Block play is so important for children! Blocks are a powerful learning tool that help children learn a variety of skills such as; hand eye coordination, spatial awareness, fine motor skills, creativity, social skills, mathematical thinking and so much more!

Starting out with some simple blocks such as duplo or jenga blocks is a great start to see what your child can create! Then add more of a variety such as magna tiles, coloured blocks, foam blocks, etc! This will extend your child’s play and imagination! More extensions to block building: jewels, people figurines, animals, cars, etc.

Helpful tip: talk about different buildings, or different features such as; windows, doors, pathways, etc. This will extend the child’s vocabulary and understanding of different attributes of a building or house.

This can be in a garden, sensory bin and/or planter! All you need is a little dirt, flowers and some little accessories like garden gnomes, fairy houses, animals, etc. This encourages children to be creative during imaginative play and gives the children opportunities to act out real life or make belief scenarios.🪴🧚‍♀️🍄🌼

The child/children can be involved in the process of creating and setting up the small world play by, planting the flowers, taking care of them and watching them grow. Watching the pure joy in the child’s eye is worth it all!

Are you looking to teach your child some simple self help skills?

Two easy tasks that your child can do:
1-Pour milk/water independently at each meal. Have a small cup of liquid with a handle that your child can easily pick up and pour into his/her drinking cup.
2-Let your child use a small child sized safe knife to help spread on butter, mayo, etc for a sandwich.

These two simple tasks practice self help skills, independence, coordination and so much more! It is so rewarding for your child when they can accomplish them independently!
