Congratulations to Tabitha Mercer, a St. FX Master of Adult Education student, who is the 2026 recipient of the “Wendy's Wonderful Kids Supervisor of the Year” award from the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. This award recognizes supervisors for their leadership in overseeing evidence-based, child-focused recruitment that finds permanent families for the longest-waiting children in foster care.
Tabitha is a child protection supervisor in the Greater Toronto Area with a commitment to anti-oppressive practice as a way of improving outcomes for children, youth, and families, particularly those who are Indigenous, Black and Black bi-racial. Tabitha says, “The fact that my team nominated me is the biggest honour. I am so proud of them and the work they do. I didn't know they had submitted the nomination until receiving the email.” In addition to a commemorative award, Tabitha will be featured in a video sharing the perspective she brings to her work.
