Visible @ X stands in solidarity with the University of Waterloo community, post-secondary campuses across Canada, and all who have been harmed by the act of gender-based violence that occurred June 28th in a UWaterloo Gender Studies classroom. We refuse to accept the normalization of gender-based violence. All individuals deserve to live, work, and study in safe and inclusive campus communities that do not tolerate actions and behaviours that perpetuate hate.

We are here to support any members of the StFX community who have been harmed by this atrocious act of violence.

We 🤍 this new song, “Been There Too” from Brooklyn Blackmore! Brooklyn is a 25 year old Country Pop artist from Nova Scotia. In her own words:

“I am a survivor of s*xual assault, and after so many years of struggling with what had happened to me, I was ready to share my story and take my power back. I went through the entire court process and even after a trial filled with so much incriminating evidence, he walked away without any charges. I know that this is sadly a reality that so many people have to face, so I wanted to write a song to help empower other survivors through their healing journey and to help them know that they're not alone. I was able to find solace in songwriting and face these scary feelings in a creative way that made me feel safe.”

There are so many ways to cope, heal, and grow from experiences of s*xual violence. No matter what your journey looks like, your feelings and experiences are VALID.

Brooklyn’s song “Been There Too” is available now on all streaming platforms! You can also give it a listen via the link in our bio. 🤍
