Dr. Katie Aubrecht is a coauthor on a new publication in Springer Nature's Health and Quality of Life Outcomes reporting on research from the "Counting What Counts" team project on social determinants of health and quality of life for people living with dementia in long-term care, led by York University's Dr. Matthias Hoben.
Conclusions of this cross-sectional, Canadian multi-province study: Quality of life in Canadian nursing homes is shaped primarily by resident clinical conditions and facility environments rather than individual social characteristics. Interventions that address mental health, behavioural symptoms, and environmental stressors may yield the greatest improvements in resident well-being.
