As Chair of the St. Joseph’s Lakeside Community Centre, and on behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to take a moment to say a very heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out to celebrate our 20th Anniversary.
What a special day it was. It truly warmed my heart to look around and see so many people gathered together to celebrate a place we are all so proud to call our community centre.
This celebration was about so much more than 20 years—it was about the people. The people who believed in this centre, worked to build it, volunteered countless hours, supported it through good times and difficult times, and continue to believe in what it means to our communities.
A special thank you to MacGillivray Fuels, Nova Construction, Heathy Murphy, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish, John G. MacDonald, East Coast Credit Union, Richelle MacLaughlin, Heather Hill Farms, The Golden Gals, and Steve Walsh Paving for helping make our celebration such a wonderful day. And thank you to our local musicians who entertained us throughout the evening—The Murphy’s, Jason Spracklin, Lee Burke, Jason MacLellan and friends, Joan Dewar and Andrew Huff.
To our volunteers, thank you from the bottom of my heart. So much happens behind the scenes that people don't always see, and this celebration would not have been possible without your time, energy and dedication.
To everyone who has walked through our doors over the past 20 years—whether you attended an event, shared a meal, celebrated a birthday, brought your children to an activity, volunteered, donated, or simply stopped in to say hello—you are all part of our story.
As Chair, I feel incredibly proud and honoured to be part of this community and to help carry forward what so many people have worked so hard to create.
Our community centre belongs to all of us. It is a place where people come together, friendships are made, memories are created, and our communities connect.
Twenty years is an incredible milestone, and I am so grateful that we were able to celebrate it together.
Here’s to the memories we have made, the people who made them possible, and the many more memories still to come.
