βœ… Have you screened today? βœ…

Parents/Guardians, screening your child every morning for symptoms is key to keeping COVID-19 out of schools and child care.

All students attending in-person learning are required to complete the Province of Ontario’s COVID-19 School and Child Care Screening daily before the start of school.

Additionally, all students will be required to provide confirmation that they have taken and passed the assessment upon arrival at school. This confirmation can be the green check mark from the online screening tool or a paper confirmation.

Parents/guardians may complete the screening for their child. Using the assessment calendar, parents and guardians will be able to confirm daily, by signing in each box, that their child has taken and passed the assessment. Calendars can be downloaded from the HWCDSB Parent Website.

Any child that does not pass the screening should not attend school.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day to all of our amazing Holy Name of Mary CES teachers! They certainly have shown ingenuity, resilience, passion and strength, as we have navigated unprecedented challenges over the past two years. They have had to transition from their normal teaching practice to remote learning, setting up new lesson plans, devising and recording instructional videos, preparing materials, and finding new ways to check in on and connect with our students (your children). They have done all this while juggling the effects of COVID-19 on their own families and personal lives as well. I have seen firsthand the challenges they have faced, and they have achieved great things despite the hardship. As well, they are using existing resources and tools in new ways, and developing systems and practices that are wholly new, and will continue to provide benefits down the road. We are lucky to have the teachers we have at HNOM as they inspire us all every day of every year but you have all gone above and beyond in recent years. We wish you health, blessings and joy. Please know how much you are appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!

THE GREAT BIG CRUNCH
On March 26, 2021, both students in Cohort A and Cohort B recesses had the opportunity to support healthy eating in Canadian schools by crunching their vegetable and fruit snacks collectively. Last year, a whopping 219,945 crunchers munched down simultaneously on local apples (and other fresh, crunchy produce) in support of healthy, local food in schools. These crunches took place at 800 different 'crunch sites' across the country! I am happy to report that Holy Name of Mary was part of the crunching movement last year in addition to this year. Keep on crunching HNOM Eagles!!!
