📣 First Day of School – September 3rd

We’re so excited to welcome everyone back to SSA!

Here’s what you need to know for the first day:

⭐️P–3 students meet at the back of the school

⭐️Grades 4–6 meet at the front of the school

⭐️Primaries start at 9:00 AM for the first two days (Sept 3-4) to help ease into routines and avoid the busy morning rush.

“Trickle in” begins at 8:25–8:45 AM (first bell 8:50). At SSA we use a “trickle in” system. Students may begin entering the building between 8:25–8:45 AM. The first bell rings at 8:50 AM.

Dismissal is at 2:30 PM

No free lunch program the first two days, but breakfast program runs as usual.

Reminder to purchase your school supplies. List can be found for each teacher on our FB page.

💡 Don’t forget to pack a lunch, snack, and water bottle.

Due to the high volume of requests and to ensure we don't miss anyone, please ensure you speak with a Maggie's Place staff member directly to reserve your backpack! Unfortunately we are unable to accept requests by social media, email, in person or voice mail message. 🎒✏📔📓🖍📏📐🏫📚🖊️

Once reserved, Backpacks and supplies may picked up at Maggie's Place, 11 Elmwood Drive, Amherst beginning Monday, August 24. Other pick up locations/ times are available in: Wentworth, Oxford, Springhill, Pugwash, Wallace, River Hebert, Parrsboro & Advocate and will be shared when calling to reserve your backpack. 🎒✏📔📓🖍📏📐🏫📚🖊️

We’ve posted all of our teacher school supply lists for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year!

Families received their child's class placement in June, along with a paper copy and an emailed copy of their school supply list. However, we wanted to make sure everyone has easy access in case your list has been misplaced.

As another incredible school year comes to a close, we just want to say thank you to our amazing students, families, staff, and community.

What a year it has been! From exciting field trips, school-wide celebrations, special guest speakers, concerts, literacy and wellness initiatives, community events, spirit days, fundraisers, fun runs and countless classroom memories, we've shared so many moments that made this year truly special. More importantly, we've watched our students learn, grow, build friendships, gain confidence, and accomplish things they never thought possible.

None of this happens by chance. We are incredibly grateful to our parents and guardians for your ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership throughout the year. Thank you for cheering on your children, volunteering your time, attending events, donating supplies, and trusting us each day.

A very special thank you goes to our Home & School Association, volunteers, community partners, local businesses, and everyone who has supported Spring Street Academy this year. Your generosity, kindness, and willingness to give back have helped create opportunities and experiences for our students that simply wouldn't be possible otherwise.

To our staff, thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to making Spring Street Academy a place where every child feels welcomed, supported, and inspired to succeed.

We are already looking forward to the 2026-2027 school year! We can't wait to create even more memories together, introduce new opportunities, continue building strong partnerships with our families and community, and fill another year with learning, laughter, and fun.

On Friday, we celebrated our amazing Grade 6 students with our annual walk through the school as they prepare for their next adventure at EBC this fall.

We are so proud of each and every one of you and all that you've accomplished during your time at Spring Street Academy. While we'll miss seeing your smiles in our halls, we know you're ready for this exciting new chapter.

We wish all of our Grade 6 graduates the very best at EBC. Keep working hard, be kind, and never stop believing in yourselves. Once an SSA student, always part of the SSA family! 💙🎓

A special shoutout to our incredible Grade 4 IMM students as they head off to CNA next year! We are so proud of everything you've accomplished and know you'll continue to do amazing things.
