Today’s Fun Fair was a huge success, and we had a couple young volunteers who ran two very busy game stations for us!!! One of our little helpers made sure she got her face painted before she started her shift….

Just a few items that are on the table….come see us in the gym at Southwood tomorrow. The big draws will take place at 2:00 pm, so come and get your tickets!

Special shout out to a Southwood alumni and fellow parent, who prefers to remain “behind the scenes”, while seamlessly orchestrating the technical details behind our events. Brent Adamson, thank you for all you have done this year to support the school’s various activities, performances, and particularly our 55TH Anniversary. He is the person who digitized the historical Christmas album that was playing in our Decades Room (thanks to alumni Luke Hoddenbagh for this suggestion).

Thank you for being the strong, efficient, and dedicated force behind so much that is delivered to our students and community, Brent!

Thank you to Mayor Collier who opened our 55th Anniversary event today. Shaun attended our school as a student many years ago, and we were so honoured to have him open our “Decades Rooms” which showcased priceless pictures and memories of the school, of the fellow students, and the beloved teachers that dedicated their careers to the development of future generations. He took the time to bring us back into the archives of the school community and his memories of growing up in South Ajax.

Thank you, Mayor Collier, for your video message last week for our archives, and for joining us in person today. Your wonderful words, along with the presentation of the commemorative certificate, set the tone for an incredibly successful event, and will be treasured by our school and our community.

Today was an incredible day. And it would not have been possible without an army of people who came together to create an event that was a long time in the making….to Nicole Gagnon-Bafaro and Our Little Bakery Inc. who were some of our GENEROUS sponsors contributing to our raffle table. To Anita Anderson who worked tirelessly to create our beautiful raffle baskets. To Marsha Strachan who designed our shirts. To Kristie Boyd for organizing and coordinating our wonderful student volunteers!!! To Katie Shelton who oversaw and managed so many critical parts of our day today….thank you!!! Today would NOT have happened without you.
