Frequently missed symptoms of inattentive ADD:
Masking
How much effort does it take to appear organized?
What would happen if you stopped using your systems?
Perfectionism
Do you spend substantially longer on tasks than others?
Is fear of mistakes a significant motivator?
Social Compensation
Do you rehearse conversations?
Do you copy others' behaviour to fit in?
Internal Hyperactivity
Is your mind constantly active?
Do you experience racing thoughts rather than physical restlessness?
Burnout
Have your coping strategies become unsustainable?
Did symptoms become more noticeable during university, parenting, or perimenopause?
These questions often reveal impairment that symptom checklists alone miss.

This is a great book for understanding time mismanagement, procrastination & impulsivity associated with ADHD. I frequently reference this book in my practice and encourage others struggling with ex*****on function skills to check it out as provides excellent psychoeducation and coping skills.

Yoodles 👋🏼 It's Laurel, the face behind The Cognitive Canopy: Psychotherapy & Support for the Neurodiverse Community 🤸🏽♀️🤘🏼I also have ADHD, so I "practice what I preach" 🐿️.
I went back to school at 41 and completed a Master of Counselling Psychology in May...with Honours 🎓✨ And yes, I am pretty damn proud of this accomplishment, as I did not think was possible for myself until I turned 40.
Getting to the point where I felt confident enough to tackle a Masters meant that I had been treating my ADHD & anxiety consistently for the previous 5 years; meaning a combination of medication, psychoeducation, ADHD coaching & therapy, as well as adequate sleep, diet and supplements, etc. In other words, the effective treatment of ADHD requires a holistic and comprehensive approach; I found what works for my ADHD and now assist my clients to find their optimal approach to neurodiversity.
I look forward to sharing my personal and professional perspectives of ADHD with you, under 🌿 The Cognitive Canopy 🌿
