Counting sticks

You can come up with many learning activities using popsicle sticks. Joan is able to identify the numbers and she loves to count. Today, I asked her to draw dots on to the popsicle sticks based on the number I tell her. So, if I tell her to draw 1 dot, she would grab a popsicle stick and makes a dot on it. Similarly, I asked her to repeat the same for numbers from 1-10. It was such a fun doing it with her.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
1. popsicle sticks
2. Marker or a pen to write the numbers

👏👏Jayden is growing up too fast !! He learnt a new skill today.👏👏

I used to sing “If you are happy and you know it clap your hands” for Joan and Jayden , but he never clapped for my songs. But, today he did..... 😍 when his daddy sang “Appam thinnan kai kottu”(A very common malayalam song which encourage kids to clap)

Clapping hands is an important milestone as it requires hand-eye co-ordination.

At first, your baby will clap to mimic you. Whether you’re clapping in happiness or encouragement, or along with a favorite song or nursery rhyme, your child will see you clap and want to join.

COLOR WITH ME MOM !

An excellent way to color,create and connect with your child. My hubby bought this book home and I thought that this is just like any other colouring book. But, when I went through the book in detail, I realized that it is an excellent book to connect with my child. Each two page spread has a colouring scene for you and your child to complete together. It has guidelines on how to use, how to build conversations with your child based on each illustration etc. This book is designed comfortable for left handers too(Joan is a lefty).

Thanks for this book.

If anyone needs more details, you can message me directly.

Mom’s little helper❤️.
I think that learning life skills enhances thinking and problem solving abilities in children. Joan likes to involve in cutting veggies and help me in kitchen. She learnt it from my mom and I am happy that she enjoys the simple things in life.

Family time in our backyard🏡👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

I always wanted to design matching outfits for Joan and Jayden and I got this done for them.

Having said that, let me go back to my childhood. My mom always wanted my sister and me to wear matching dresses when we go out. I was not a great fan of that and I used to fight with her for stitching matching dresses for us.. Now, look at this, I changed a lot and I love to see my kids wearing matching outfits.

Joan scribbled her first letters today. She was made to write letters as per our tradition. Joan’s dad held her fingers and made her write her first letters on a plate of rice. Our whole family joined us via video call and made those moments extra special.

“Vidyarambham” is the traditional practice of , introducing children into the world of knowledge, letters, and the process of learning. In Kerala, this ceremony is usually conducted between the age of 3-5years.

Paper plate clock craft

My daughter absolutely loves to hear the “tick-tok” sound from her grandpa’s clock. She is always excited to know what time it is.

If you need to teach your kid how to tell the time, just make a paper plate clock for them. You can involve them in the clock making too.

All you need is :

* White Paper plate(I used orange water colour to make the paper plate colourful)
* Scissors
* Sketch pens
* Tack Pin
* Glue
* Construction paper

How To Make

Ask your child to apply water color on the face of the paper plate. Write down the numbers 1-12 on the paper plate. I made small circles on a white paper,wrote numbers on them and glued it to the paper plate. Make one small arrow and a big arrow using a construction paper. Use a tack pin to stick the ends of the arrows in the centre of the plate. Now, you can move the arrows and teach your child to tell time. I did draw a cat face on another paper plate to make it more appealing for my daughter.
