Weekly Update
Dear Kent Families,
It has been another wonderful and busy week here at Kent, filled with creativity, outdoor learning, and excitement for what’s ahead!
Swimming Lessons Begin Next Week
We are excited to begin our swimming program next week. Mr. King’s Grade 6 class, Ms. Ganecheva’s Grade 5/6 class, and Ms. Mifflin and Mr. Brydon’s class will all be heading to the pool. Please ensure students come prepared with everything they need on their scheduled days.
Primary Choices – Creativity in Action
Our Primary Choices program ran this week and will continue into next week. Students have been enjoying a wide range of hands-on activities including candle making, painting peg people, and exploring various forms of art. It has been fantastic to see their creativity and enthusiasm!
A Buzzing Visit
We were lucky to welcome some very special visitors this week — bees! Please take a moment to look at the attached photo. The bees will be returning next week to work with multiple classes, providing another engaging learning experience.
Outdoor Play & Safety Reminders
To ensure student safety, we had to fill in several large holes on the playground. Moving forward, students may:
• Dig only in designated areas:
o The intermediate backstop behind the portable
o Near the garden
o Along the bushes in the primary area
• Dig holes no deeper than the length of their hands
We also ask that students do not dig on the hill — we’d like to keep our hill intact for everyone to enjoy!
Garden Care
We are noticing some damage to our garden due to logs being moved. To help protect our plants:
• Please do not move logs in the garden areas
• Students may only move the logs located under the cherry trees
Thank you for helping us take care of this important learning space.
Kindness at Kent
This week’s kindness prize winners received slinkies, snap bracelets, and even backpacks! Thanks to the generosity we’ve received over the years, we have additional backpacks available. If your child needs one, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we are happy to help.
PAC Meeting – You’re Invited
Our next PAC meeting will take place:
• Wednesday at 6:00 PM
• Kent Library
All parents are welcome! We offer childcare and a free dinner, and we would love to see you there.

Kent Elementary School – Parent Community
Week of: April 20–24, 2026
Message from the Principal
It has been another wonderful week at Kent Elementary, filled with kindness, community connection, and joyful experiences for students and staff alike. Thank you for the continued support you provide to our school—it truly makes a difference.
Here is a look at what we focused on this week and what’s coming up next.
Celebrations and Highlights
Kindness Focus: Kindness to Others
This week, our school-wide focus was Kindness to Others. Students explored what kindness can look like in our daily lives—checking in on a friend, including others during play, helping someone who needs support, offering encouraging words, and showing respect even during challenging moments.
We saw many examples of students putting kindness into action around the school, and it has been lovely to see these behaviours noticed and celebrated within classrooms and across our community.
Under the Sea Dance 🐠🌊
A huge thank you to our PAC and the many hardworking volunteers who made the Under the Sea Dance such a success!
It was wonderful to see:
Mer‑people, pirates, scuba divers, and ocean creatures filling the gym
Students and adults alike participating in the fun
A strong sense of joy and connection throughout the evening
We had 106 students attend, and our PAC raised over $230 to support our school—outstanding! We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible.
School Notices

It’s shaping up to be an exciting and busy week full of learning, exploration, and fun experiences for students.

Weekly Update
Kent Elementary School – Parent Community
Week of: April 13–17, 2026
Message from the Principal
It has been another full and rewarding week at Kent Elementary. Students have been deeply engaged in learning, building connections, and contributing positively to our school community. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership—we truly value the strong relationships that surround our students.
Below is a snapshot of what has been happening and what is coming up.
Celebrations and Highlights
Kindness Cards & Joyful Starts
We have officially completed our first week of Kindness Cards, and it has been wonderful to see how excited students have been to receive them. Whether students were recognized through a card or celebrated when their name was drawn for a small prize, staff intentionally focused conversations on the good feelings that naturally come from being kind.
While recognition and prizes are exciting, our deeper goal is to help students develop an internal reward system—so that kindness feels good even when no one is watching. This balance of external celebration paired with internal reflection is an important part of building strong character.
Adding to our joy-filled days, students have begun submitting jokes to me daily, which has officially resulted in a “Joke Bucket” on my desk! Each morning I read one aloud. Starting the day with shared laughter—and hearing a student’s joke read to the whole school—has brought a lot of happiness and connection into our mornings.
Learning and School Life Snapshot
