Around here we’ve been learning about moccasins and the movement Rock Your Mocs.

Rock Your Mocs is a global movement to celebrate Native American and Indigenous cultures and unity by wearing moccasins and sharing photos or videos online using the hashtag . The event was established in 2011 to honor Indigenous peoples, their ancestors, and their diverse identities

Day 5 of Indigenous Week: Today, we were honoured to host the Sásq'ets Dancers, with some of our Sts'ailes students proudly joining the performance. Witnessing the pride on our students' faces truly embodies the spirit of this week.

We have reached Day 3 of Indigenous Week. Lunchtime activities included moccasin crafts and soapberry ice cream in the Indigenous portable, as well as a medicine wheel workshop for the grade 5 students. Students and staff who answered three questions were entered into a draw: 1. When is National Indigenous Peoples Day? 2. Who are the three Indigenous groups of Turtle Island? 3. What is Turtle Island? We drew one lucky winner.
