With the Abbotsford School Trustee election coming up, our PAC is inviting all candidates to share their perspectives on two issues that matter deeply to our school community.

We were wondering if candidates would take the time to let us know how they feel about these issues and what they would do if elected.

Abbotsford Sr PAC does not endorse any candidate.

1. ISP is a specialized program at Abbotsford Senior Secondary serving students with significant support needs, and parents and staff have raised concerns that current staffing levels are not sufficient for the program to operate as intended. If elected, what specific steps would you take—within your authority as a trustee—to determine whether the current level of support is adequate, and, if it is not, to advocate for restoring the resources needed for ISP to operate at full strength?

2. Over the last 8 years, Abbotsford’s International Baccaulaureate district program has been limited by catchment boundaries and has seen changes to its Pre-IB programming, nearly dismantling the program. What is your view on district-wide access to IB, and how would you support students across Abbotsford who want to pursue the program, including the preperatory course work in Grade 9 and 10 years?

Meetings Postponed: Meet the Teacher and Grad Parent Meeting

Dear Families,
This evening's Meet the Teacher event at Abbotsford Senior Secondary has been POSTPONED until next Wednesday, September 23, 2026 @ 5:30pm due to unforeseen technical outages.

The evening will follow the same schedule:
Welcome at 5:30pm in the Pt Gym and block rotation from 5:40pm to 7:00pm.

Additionally, our Grad Parent Meeting scheduled for this evening has been CANCELLED and will be rescheduled for early October.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvinience this may cause families and hope to see many of you next Wednesday evening.

We will send out a reminder of both events in our weekly newsletters and will update social media and website accordingly.

Parent Advisory Council (PAC) September Meeting

You’re invited to the first General PAC meeting on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 7:00 PM in the Abbotsford Senior Secondary Library. Our agenda is attached.

Nominations for Grade 9/10 Parent Rep, Grade 11/12 Parent Rep, and Vice-President for 2026/27

We invite parents and guardians of Abbotsford Senior Secondary students to put forward nominations for vacant positions on the Abbotsford Senior Parent Advisory Council PAC Executive. We currently have openings for
-Grade 9/10 Parent Representative
-Grade 11/12 Parent Representative
-Vice-President

Interested parents can notify us by email to [email protected] or simply come to the September meeting. PAC executives must be a parent or guardian of a student registered in Abbotsford Senior Secondary for the 2026/27 year. The Vice-President will chair the PAC meeting in the president’s absence or upon request and accept extra duties as required. The Parent Representative will be responsible for sharing feedback from parents in their students’ grade. We encourage those putting their name forward to review our constitution to find out more about the PAC. The time commitment is mostly limited to the monthly general meetings held during the school year.
*Please note that only parents attending in-person will be able to vote by secret ballot if we hold elections.*

We invite parents and guardians of Abbotsford Senior Secondary students to put forward nominations for the Abbotsford Senior Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Executive. The successful candidates will hold office for a term of one year beginning July 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027.

All positions are open. PAC Executive positions open for election at the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday May 14, 2026 are:
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
DPAC Representative
Grade 9/10 Parent Representatives - two positions available
Grade 11/12 Parent Representatives - two positions available

Our purpose is to promote the education and welfare of students in the school; a major responsibility is the distribution of funds to support extra-curricular activities. The time commitment is mostly limited to the monthly general meetings held during the school year.

Do you have questions about putting your name forward? Our current executive members are happy to discuss what it is like to be on the PAC. You can reach us via email [email protected]

Nominations will be accepted right up until the start of the May AGM. Elections will take place at the AGM on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 7:00 PM.
