We are beyond saddened to hear of the passing of Sensei Suda.
Sensei touched so many of our member’s lives and made the community better through his sheer existence. We love ld his work and the community he created through the dojo.
We share the grief and send love to our friends and family in the Abbotsford Judo Club club.
TMA一同、心よりお悔やみ申し上げます。
安らかにお眠りください。

Our head instructor sat down with another instructor who just so happens to be a pretty rad human. All the way from Australia, Nik Barker is the vocalist for the band Ashen Skies.

I sat down with Nik Barker for a long-form conversation about music...

🥁 TEMPLE MUSIC ACADEMY IS HIRING A DRUM INSTRUCTOR

Temple Music Academy in Abbotsford is growing, and we're looking for another exceptional drummer to join our teaching team.

We're not just looking for someone who can play.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people learn.

The right person will be:

• A confident, experienced drummer
• Friendly, reliable and professional
• Comfortable working with children, teens and adults
• Able to teach beginner and intermediate students
• Patient and able to explain concepts in different ways
• Excited about becoming part of a team and music community

Professional performing experience is a major asset, but you don't need to be a touring musician or have a wall full of degrees.

Being a great teacher and a great human being matters enormously to us.

About Temple Music Academy

TMA is an established, growing music academy in Abbotsford with a large community of students studying guitar, drums, piano, voice, bass, ukulele and more.

We take teaching seriously, but we also want students to look forward to walking through our doors every week.

We provide the teaching facility, instruments, scheduling, administration and an existing student base so our instructors can concentrate on what they do best: teaching music.

This is a part-time teaching position with the opportunity to grow as your schedule fills.

📍 Abbotsford, BC

Interested?

Send us a message introducing yourself and tell us a little about your playing and teaching experience.

Know a drummer who would be perfect for this? Tag them or send this their way.

TMA Holiday Reminder 🐣

Temple Music Academy is closed today for Easter.

Unfortunately, DJ attempted to square up with the Easter Bunny this morning…
and lost. Badly.

We’re talking full defeat.
Eggs everywhere. No witnesses willing to speak.

Lessons will resume once dignity has been partially restored.

Enjoy the day with your families, eat some chocolate, and practice… or don’t. We won’t know.

See you soon 🎶 🎸 🤕

At Temple Music Academy, we never promised normal.

Sometimes a simple question about a first lesson turns into Mortal Kombat, Kung-Fu recommendations, and a deep dive into Liam’s weaknesses in the animal systems of study.

Do we give straightforward answers?
Eventually.

Do we have fun along the way?
Always.

To everyone who plays along with our nonsense, our jokes, and our slightly unhinged sense of humor…

We appreciate you more than you know. 🤘

Transcript:

Student:
Lol what will go down at this first meeting? Kind of a meet and greet and information?

TMA:
We usually expect the student and teacher to face each other in mortal kombat to assert dominance. The victor then dictates the curriculum from there. As you can imagine… it’s often a one sided conversation.

Student:
Exactly what I was looking for

TMA:
We strongly suggest Kung-Fu as your chosen form… Liam has proven weak in the animal systems of study

TMA:
puts on serious cap

Student:
I’m studying a little known martial art under a friend of mine who has incorporated animal movements and bird calls into sleight of hand and low kick moves

Student:
It’s pretty epic

TMA:
Sounds terrifying.

Student:
It can be. For the weak.
