DPAC 2026-2026 Year in Review

PARENT LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT

This year, we focused the majority of our Parent Learning budget on topics identified by parents as their highest priorities:

-Feel Better: Mental and Emotional Health (Ranked #1)
-Bullying: Boundaries and Support (Ranked #2)
-Study Smarter (Ranked #5)

We also hosted guest speakers on va**ng prevention, district trades programs, and post-secondary planning. While these topics were not among the top-ranked survey responses, they were offered at no cost to DPAC and generated significant parent interest.

In addition, DPAC hosted:

-An All-Candidates Meeting for the School Trustee By-Election
-Two PAC 101 sessions
-Abbotsford's first PAC Networking Night

SUPPORTING PACS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Beyond our events, DPAC also:

-Built a new website
-Made significant updates to our Constitution and Bylaws
-Launched a monthly newsletter
-Streamlined social media communications
-Started a WhatsApp group to connect PAC leaders across Abbotsford
-Assisted PACs and families with dozens of questions and concerns
-Met regularly with district leadership
-Hosted Zoom meetings for PACs throughout the district
-Assisted 37 PACs with renewing their BCCPAC memberships
-Represented Abbotsford PACs at both the August 2025 BCCPAC Extraordinary General Meeting and the April 2026 BCCPAC Annual General Meeting

BCCPAC AGM
For the AGM, we collected proxy votes from 21 schools, while 4 additional schools sent their own delegate. As a result, Abbotsford was represented by 25 voting members out of approximately 159 delegates in attendance—about 16% of the total voting power at the AGM. We also surveyed local parents on the resolutions being debated so that our votes would reflect the priorities of Abbotsford families.

LOOKING AHEAD
As we plan for next year, we see opportunities to:

-Improve our website and email systems
-Create more opportunities for PAC networking and collaboration
-Explore literacy and numeracy-focused parent learning events
-Continue responding to parent suggestions for topics and speakers

Thank you to every parent, PAC executive, and DPAC representative who helped make this work possible.
