Pecking on the Cecropia peltata branch to extract the sap and feed on it was nice to witness this behavior on one of our Tours.

Stygian Owl
The Stygian Owl is a medium-sized to large owl with prominent, erectile ear-tufts. The adjective Stygian means 'gloomy and dark' and refers to the river Styx, which, in Greek mythology, the souls of the dead cross to reach the underworld.

Swallow tailed kite
Swallow-tailed Kites primarily eat flying insects such as dragonflies and cicadas, which they capture and consume on the wing. But these predatory acrobats don't limit themselves to invertebrates: As they cruise the treetops, they also snag snakes, lizards etc....

White Hawk
The adult white hawk has very broad wings and has a white head, body and underwings. The upper wings are black, and the very short tail is black with a broad white band. The bill is black and the legs are yellow.

Violet sabrewing
The dark violet mixed with dark forest-green feathers, provide excellent camouflage in forested areas. Its name, sabrewing, refers to the striking flat and thick shafts on its outer feathers. The bill is long and curved, well-adapted for extracting nectar from flowering plants.

Lesser nighthawk
Lesser Nighthawks are camouflaged in browns and grays. It is not until they take flight that a distinctive bar across the wingtips is visible. The bar is white on males and cream-colored on females. Males and females also have a white stripe across the front of the neck not always visible.

Toucans are one of the most iconic species of the Neotropics, The Keel-billed toucan is a very social bird and can often be seen in foraging an playing in pairs or small groups. They are found throughout our Belize's forests and nest in cavities in tree trunks.
