Gulisi Community Primary School

Gulisi Community Primary School Managed by National Garifuna Council The School started with 4 classes - Pre-School to Standard 1 in 2007 and come September we will be adding Standard 5.

Gulisi Community Primary School is a Grant-Aided School and we teach the traditional Belize curriculum, which prepares children for the school leaving exams, but we also integrate into the curriculum additional subject matter that would produce competency in the Garifuna Language, history and culture. Additionally, we teach traditional life skills and values, particularly in the early years. Children are taught to read and write in English, Garifuna and Spanish (in parallel). Other techniques of life used by the Garifuna will be taught to the children in the upper divisions and they will also be taught practical courses in agriculture.
