Strengthening partnerships, advancing research, and expanding opportunities!

The University of Belize was honored to welcome representatives from Georgia Southern University during two recent visits that reinforced a growing partnership rooted in research, academic excellence, and international collaboration.

From participating in UB’s 2026 Science Symposium under the theme “Creating Knowledge Through Scientific Research” to engaging with faculty, students, and university leadership, the Georgia Southern delegation explored opportunities for collaboration in STEM, field-based research, student mobility, and institutional development.

The partnership reached another milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, paving the way for expanded academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and new opportunities for students and faculty. Notably, three UB students have already been accepted to Georgia Southern University for the Fall 2026 semester.

Together, UB and Georgia Southern University continue to build meaningful connections that foster innovation, knowledge sharing, and global engagement.

Conducted in collaboration with researchers from Kun Shan University, Taiwan, their study introduces an innovative machine learning approach for monitoring tool wear in CNC manufacturing processes.

Incoming UB students may be required to take the Computer-Based Placement Examination to ensure proper placement in critical reading, writing, and math courses.
