Birds are active, some nesting and some mating with yet we are lucky to see some with their chicks already

A Northern potoo with chick captured by Jordana Wright

Bizarre, big-headed, and bug-eyed nocturnal bird with yellow eyes and cryptically streaked plumage. Found in wooded and semiopen habitats in tropical lowlands, including mangroves. Roosts upright on branches, where it blends in and looks like a broken tree branch. At night in a flashlight beam, eyes reflect like brilliant amber coals (nightjar eyes are duller and owl eyes have a dull reflection and are rarely visible). Hunts from posts and prominent perches; sallies out for insects and often returns to the same perch.(ebird)

A half-day tour of Xunantunich is a fantastic sell because it offers high impact for a relatively short time commitment. Since you're based in San Ignacio, you have the advantage of proximity, allowing for a relaxed morning or afternoon itinerary.

Combing this site with either jungle pontoon or cave tubing, or cave canoeing at Barton creek or enjoy the pool in the Mountain Pine Ridgebso yes options are endless.
