We aim to provide students with a sound elementary education, with basic life skills, as well as tra None

Let's take a moment to reflect on some challenges educators are facing in this country. Our teachers are reaching a breaking point and it’s time we speak honestly as a community.

Across our classrooms, we are seeing an increase in students refusing to complete their work, some openly asking for a zero. Others arrive extremely late, explaining they were up playing video games the night before. There are frequent absences, with students remaining at home for extended periods, and when concerns are raised, the responsibility is often shifted solely onto the school.

Teachers are also facing daily challenges with behavior: tantrums, disrespect, inappropriate gestures, and outright refusal to follow instructions. When guidance is given, even on matters like proper dress, it is sometimes misinterpreted, placing teachers in difficult and unfair situations.

At the same time, teachers are being restricted from offering additional support whether it’s asking students to come in early or stay a little later due to concerns and complaints. This limits our ability to help the very students who need it most.

Let us also acknowledge a growing crisis, Belize is already facing a teacher shortage. More and more teachers are leaving the classroom for call center jobs, while others are seeking greater opportunities abroad. Each year, we lose educators through the Participate Learning Program, and some young teachers are resigning long before retirement age. This is a reality we cannot ignore.

Let us be clear: teachers are not perfect. But they are committed, they care deeply, and they are trying. Many are exhausted. Some are overwhelmed. And yet, they continue to show up every day for our children.

Education is a partnership. We cannot do this alone.

When parents and teachers work together, children succeed. When there is constant blame, division, and public criticism (social media) without dialogue, it is our children who suffer the consequences.

We are living in a time where our youth are facing serious challenges in society. The behaviors we ignore or excuse at a young age can grow into much bigger problems later on. This is not just a school issue, it is a community issue.

We are asking parents and education partners across this entire country for your support, your cooperation, and your understanding. We are deeply concerned about the troubling realities affecting our youth and the increasing violence we are witnessing in our communities.

Let’s communicate. Let’s collaborate. Let’s guide our children together with consistency, respect, and care.

Our children need all of us.

Let’s work together to save them.

⚠️ Follow-Up Notice: Ongoing Safety Concern ⚠️

Following our previous message, we are sharing these images to highlight the seriousness of the situation on our school compound.

Dogs continue to enter the premises, climbing onto tables and removing garbage from the bins. This not only creates an unsanitary environment, but also poses a serious health and safety risk to our students and staff.

We are once again appealing to all parents and members of the surrounding community to ensure that your dogs are properly secured and do not follow students onto the compound.

Our school must remain a clean, safe, and secure space for learning.

If this situation is not addressed promptly, we will be forced to seek assistance from the relevant authorities.

We thank you for your cooperation and urge everyone to take this matter seriously.

🙏🏽 Let us work together to protect our children and our school environment.

⚠️ Important Notice to Parents & Community Members⚠️

We have observed an increasing number of dogs entering the school compound, often accompanying students. While we understand that pets are a part of many families, this situation poses a serious safety concern for our students, staff, and visitors.

Unrestrained dogs on the compound can lead to accidents, injuries, and unnecessary fear among our children. Our school must remain a safe and secure environment for everyone.

We are kindly appealing to all parents and members of the surrounding community to ensure that your dogs are properly secured or tied at home and do not follow students onto the school grounds.

If this matter is not addressed promptly, the school will have no choice but to seek assistance from the relevant authorities.

We thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school safe.

🙏🏽 Together, let us protect our children.
