On behalf of the entire MWHS community, we extend heartfelt congratulations to our Male Basketball Team, the MWHS Trailblazers, for an outstanding and historic achievementβ€”capturing the National Secondary Schools Sports Association National Basketball Championship after first securing the regional title.

In a thrilling national tournament weekend, the team demonstrated resilience, discipline, and true championship character. Their 69–61 victory over Muffles College set the tone, and the commanding 59–41 triumph over Sacred Heart College in the final was a powerful statement of their dominance and teamwork.

Special commendation goes to Russel Bailey, whose exceptional performance earned him Most Valuable Player honors. Scoring 19 points and dominating the boards with the most rebounds, Russel led by example on both ends of the court. Strong contributions also came from Marlon McClaren and Tristenn Brown, who each added 11 points, and from Jason Orosco, who showed determination and composureβ€”overcoming early foul trouble to finish with 8 valuable points.

This victory is made even more meaningful as it marks our first national championship in 20 years, won fittingly in Orange Walk Town, the very place where the last national title was secured. History has come full circle.

Congratulations to the players, coach, sports coordinator, supportive staff and fans and the entire school community. You have made MWHS immensely proud and inspired a new generation of Trailblazers to dream big and work hard.

Well done, champions! πŸ€πŸ†
