Discuss and Learn: английский язык с носителем в Минске

English lessons focusing on learning through discussion of relevant real life topics. My name is Thanos and I’m bilingual in Greek & English. Feel free to ask.

In our speaking/listening sessions I will help you to expand your vocabulary and gain more confidence in speaking and thinking in English. In my lessons, I emphasize speaking/listening and expanding one's vocabulary without forgetting to work on grammar and pronunciation too. I guide my students so they can gain a more natural way of understanding and speaking English. I'm interested in motivated adults that would like to develop their speaking and listening skills through discussion on relevant real life topics. Our discussions will teach you to think by yourself beyond standardised and worn out responses. I am proficient and natural speaker in English (near native). I lived and worked in the UK between 1998-2014 while still regularly travelling to Britain for working purposes. Since 2015 I’m residing in Minsk. I have travelled extensively and have worked mainly as freelancer with also experience in teaching in higher education in the UK while I hold a PhD in Music Composition from the University of London. All motivated adults of pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced level are welcome. I prefer to work with on-going students and do not accept to work for very short-term projects.

Language diversity is under threat. Without intervention, language loss could triple within 40 years, with at least one language lost per month. To avoid the loss of over 1,500 languages by the end of the century, urgent investment is needed in language documentation, bilingual education programmes and other community-based programmes. —

Using a global analysis of 6,511 spoken languages with 51 predictor variables spanning aspects of population, documentation, legal recognition, education policy, socioeconomic indicators and environmental features, the authors identify predictors of current and future language endangerment and loss.
