We have launched a new short TIGR Course: Technical Illustrations, Graphs, and Reports (Pronounced “tiger”). The Course is all about charts and figures. If you regularly work with stacked bar graphs and line graphs, you need this three-lesson course. If you feel trapped when describing figures and diagrams, you need this course. After this course, participants will be able to more freely and naturally describe stacked bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, radar charts, and bubble charts. Participants will also be better equipped to weave a story with their transitions between such figures. Finally, participants will have a handy reference guide full of synonyms and example phrases.

Tuesday's Tip: Deciding when to use a form of "say" or "tell" can be tricky!
Remember, in most cases, "tell" takes an indirect object (a person or people). For example, "I *told them* to go to the park."
Forms of "say" tend not to take an indirect object. For example, "My mother *said* I can go to the park."

Tuesday's Tip!
"In lieu of" (pronounced 'in loo') means *in place of*, while "in light of" means *in consideration of* or *because of*.
These phrases may be easy to mix up, but they have very different meanings!
For example, a company could decide to give hockey tickets to each employee in lieu of cash bonuses. Or in a different scenario, a manager could send an email that reads, "In light of our recent cut-backs, no extra vacation time will be granted this holiday season."
