💻Last Thursday 10th of March, we held the second in-depth session on Evaluation Criteria linked to learning outcomes for the Belarusian Professors of the future Radium Master.

During this session, each Belarusian partner Institution presented the schemes of Evaluation Criteria drafted for their courses, as a result of the group works carried on during the previous weeks. The results were then commented among partners and recommendations for further improvement were made by the activity leader University of Hasselt.

The final versions of the Evaluation Criteria schemes will then be integrated in the Syllabus.

💐Happy International Women's Day!

Every life begins with a woman. Respect and encourage to every woman for what she is!

Year by year gender equality in the educational sphere is becoming stronger.
👩‍⚕️But women make up less than a quarter of the workforce in the nuclear sector worldwide, hurting not only diversity within the industry, but also competitiveness, experts have said. Many organizations, including the IAEA, are actively working to increase the share of women in all job categories.

Radium project supports and promote equal participation, especially among the future Master students.

✨Good wishes to every woman on this special day: always keep your face forward to the sunshine with pride and dignity!

📌France agreed last year to extend the life of the country's 32 oldest nuclear reactors by a decade, to 50 years. Nuclear power currently provides about 70% of France's electricity, more than in any other country, and it plans to build six new nuclear reactors and extend the life of its existing nuclear plants.

🔎These initiatives aim to "make France, within 30 years, the first major country in the world to stop depending on fossil fuels" and are part of the country's strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming. Construction work would start around 2028 so that the first new reactor can be commissioned in 2035.

🔎Last Friday 4th of February, Radium Consortium has launched an In-depth session for the Belarusian Professors of the future Radium Master on how to formulate Evaluation Criteria linked to learning outcomes.

ℹThis initiative is part of our work for the Development of Educational Contents for Radiation Protection & Nuclear Safety Culture Master program and consists of two modules. Our idea is to build on concrete examples of similar courses held in our EU partner Universities, than can be immediately put in practice and replicated by the BY Professors for their courses.
Hasselt University International will lead the session in cooperation with the Belarusian State University and Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna.

🔎Slovakia is interested in small modular reactors for nuclear future

Secretary of economy Karol Galek, said the Slovak Republic is interested in obtaining more information about small modular reactors and will participate in the discussions on this topic at the European level.

📚Karol Hirman, energy analyst, adds that Slovakia’s interest in these types of reactors is logical as the country will not need a new nuclear power plant for some time after finishing the third and fourth block of the Mochovce power plant. Instead of building reactors on the power plant’s site, key components of SMR’s can be constructed in a factory.
