Tsa Lapeng Music Initiative

Tsa Lapeng Music Initiative Tsa Lapeng Music Initiative (TLMi) was born on July 2002. This was just the presence of the colonial masters.

It seeks to redress past colonial imbalances where children from African communities were denied the benefits of music education and opportunities to showcase their artistic expression. After its establishment it secured a grant from the National Arts Council of South Africa until to date.Through its flagship projects- Tsa Lapeng Music Conservatoire, Tsa Lapeng Youth Jazz Orchestra and the annual

Tsa Lapeng Youth Jazz Orchestra Festival, TLMi teaches music theory and after school instrumental classes to young people aged between 6-25 years in Stinkwater and its surrounding rural villages outside Hammanskraal. TLMi is aligned to the international exam syllabus of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music(Uk) and UNISA Music Directorate (South Africa). The organisation is open for contributions from the greater community and is heavily indebted to its community for the support it renders.
