After 27 years in education, one thing gives me great joy:
Not only seeing children pass examinations…
But seeing what they become.

So I ask again:

Or a child who sees possibilities?

Let us raise children who can BUILD.

FINALLY, THE SECRET IS OUT! 😁

WHY PALAPYE?

For a while now, some may have wondered:
Why Palapye?
Why did we choose to build Mustard Seed International School and Sports Academy here?

After 27 years in education, I think I can finally share the answer.
It is not simply about building a school.
It is about building people.
It is about building community.
It is about building Botswana.

We chose Palapye because we believe in Palapye.
We believe in its children.
We believe in its families.
We believe in its people.
We believe in its future.

We want to create opportunities for employment and mentorship.
We want to contribute to quality education.
We want to develop children with the right mindset .children who can look at a challenge and say:
YES, I CAN.

We want children to understand that success requires resilience, courage, consistency, discipline, character and responsibility.

We want them to discover creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, robotics, coding, problem-solving and leadership.

We want sports to teach our children teamwork, discipline, confidence, resilience and the joy of healthy competition.

We want our Mustard Seed Alumni to remain part of the family
to grow, succeed and eventually come back to mentor, support and build others.

We want Mustard Seed to work with the community
not separately from it.
Most importantly we want Mustard Seed to work together with
Local businesses.
Local institutions.
Parents.
Teachers.
Professionals.
Young people.
Because development cannot be the responsibility of one person or one institution.
WE BUILD TOGETHER.

Palapye, this is your school.

It was built through your investment, sacrifice, faith, courage prayers and commitment, because we believed that Palapye was worth investing in.

And every person who contributes
whether through sending a child to school, working with us, supplying us, mentoring a child, supporting an activity or simply believing in what we are trying to build ,this is part of the journey.

We are not here simply to build a school in Palapye.
WE WANT TO BUILD WITH PALAPYE.
Because the children sitting in our classrooms today are not only Mustard Seed's future.
They are Palapye's future.
They are Botswana's future.
And perhaps one day, some of them will become teachers, doctors, Pastors, good parents, entrepreneurs, engineers, farmers, athletes, leaders and community builders.
And they may look back and say:
“I was part of that journey.”
That is why Palapye.
Not because Palapye needed another school.
But because we believed Palapye deserved people who were willing to invest in its future.

After 27 years, perhaps this is the greatest lesson education has taught me:
We don't only educate children for their own success.
We educate them so that one day, they can use their success to build others.
And that is the Mustard Seed we want to plant.
